appeared in his body. He praised and used the divine medicine to restore his body to normal. Then, the offering was completed perfectly. He made offerings to the victorious ones and the supreme of the Buddhas. In the end, he gave away beautiful women, villages and cities, collections of jewels, and horses like young gods with golden necklaces. When he gave the elephant named 'Auspicious Mountain,' which could travel a hundred yojanas in a day, to the one called 'Foremost Brahma Chariot,' King Enduring Difficulty, although he also became attached to that elephant in his mind. Now, when the offering was concluded and entrusted to the son of Bhrigu, the disciple named Marici, the Brahmin Vahika, in order to offer to the guru, requested the lotus-like queen with her son in the name of a servant, and took her away and offered her to the guru. At this time, King Enduring Difficulty of Kuru sent messengers to request the elephant Auspicious Mountain, but since it had already been given to the foremost one, he was not given it, so he angrily assembled an army and came to fight. There, King Crest Jewel, although he had the ability to defeat the opponent through battle, with a compassionate thought, thought: Alas, King Enduring Difficulty, although he is my friend, because he is attached to the elephant, he immediately became an enemy, this fool is worthy of compassion. Thinking this, he wanted to go to the forest himself. Four Pratyekabuddhas naturally descended from the sky, told the king to go to the forest, and urged him to go to the forest. So, he left with them, and the Pratyekabuddhas returned to their own abodes. The king made his abode in the forest of that snow mountain. After that, the ministers of King Crest Jewel redeemed the king's son and gave him to Marici Buddha. That minister took the prince back to his own city, led an army, defeated the army of King Enduring Difficulty of Kuru, and then left. There, a severe famine and plague occurred in the city of King Enduring Difficulty, and the people were in distress. When he was asked what could be done, the ministers said: If we can find the jewel on the crest of King Crest Jewel, which has the moisture of nectar, we can escape this disaster. That king resides on the side of the snow mountain.

It is said that if one begs, there is nothing that is not given. The king sent five Brahmins to beg for the jewel. At this time, King Crown Jewel went to the vicinity of the place of practice located on the top of Mount Malaya. There, the goddess Padma-can, who eats roots and fruits, came to the deserted forest, trembling because the hunter wanted to catch her, and uttering cries of lamentation. After hearing her call out, "Alas, lord of men, Crown Jewel," King Crown Jewel ran over and saw that Padma-can's body was weak and very painful, and the hunter fled. Padma-can also saw the king wandering in the forest, and pain and joy at seeing him arose simultaneously. At that time, a sinful demon appeared in the form of a man and said to the king, "You should not leave this lover in the forest, and you should not give up the throne either." Knowing that it was a demon, the king smiled and said, "Those who are tamed and peaceful cannot be deluded by desire." Having said this, the demon disappeared. When Padma-can uttered cries of lamentation with words of disillusionment, the king said to her, "Goddess, it is proper to practice the Dharma, and it is not proper to grieve." After speaking words of impermanence and Dharma, Padma-can left again. At that time, the five Brahmins sent by King Forbearance begged for the Crown Jewel in order to pacify the calamities in the country. He said, "Cut off and take this jewel that grows on my head." As soon as he said this, the great earth also shook. They cut off the king's crown with sharp swords and took the jewel that shone with light. At that time, the gods gathered in the sky to watch. The king's body was stained with blood, and he generated great compassion for the sentient beings around him, overcame his own suffering, and made the aspiration to liberate all suffering sentient beings through the merit of giving the jewel. Then, he took the jewel himself and gave it to the Brahmins, who took the jewel to the city of King Forbearance, and all the calamities were pacified. At that time, the sons of Bhrigu, Gautama, and the ascetics such as Marici, having heard that such a precious thing had been given, came there from the forest. The goddess Padma-can also followed Marici himself, and seeing the king in that state, fell to the ground.

It became so. Then, the gods of the sky praised the king's fame, causing it to spread in all directions. At that time, the king's son, together with the assembly of ministers, came to the king. Seeing the king's body fallen on the ground, covered in blood like a garment, they cried out in lament, saying, 'Alas! To give up one's life for the sake of others.' The ascetic of Marici also looked at that ruler with tearful eyes and said, 'Alas! You do not consider your own life, but abandon your body in this way. What fruit will you obtain from this? Why do you not have a sorrowful expression?' The king endured the pain, wiped the blood from his face, and said, 'Ascetic, I have no other desire, but only to liberate the sentient beings of samsara. There is no displeasure in giving away my body as alms. If what I say is true, may my body be restored to its original state.' As soon as he spoke, his body, complete with the crest jewel, was restored to its original state. Then, Brahma and Indra, and all the ascetics, requested him to be king, but he did not agree. Later, Padma-laden and the ascetic urged him again, and the king's sons also requested him to ascend the throne. At that time, the former solitary Buddhas also came from the sky, filling all directions with light, and said, 'Having given up your body for the sake of others and done so many austerities, it is not appropriate to be indifferent to those who have long suffered the pain of separation from their own kin.' The king of men also thought that this was so, and so he went from the path of the sky to his own palace. Together with his son and queen, he happily resided as before, and for a long time he ruled the kingdom and performed extensive deeds in accordance with the Dharma. Furthermore, in the past, in the teachings of the Buddha named Lord of Assemblies, this Bhagavan became a monk named Melodious Light, and became a teacher who spoke of the profound emptiness, surpassing others in qualities such as form, discipline, samadhi, and wisdom, and was revered by all, including the sons of kings. Other thousands of monks became jealous and their minds were disturbed.
