The leader felt great compassion for the pregnant deer and said, "Good deer, you take care of your child and live here in peace for a long time. I will go in your place." With a sigh, he made a vow for unsurpassed Bodhi and was seen off by his herd with reluctance. He said to them, "Go back." And taught them the Dharma of renunciation, then left alone. The deer watched him until he disappeared, mourning as if they had lost their father. That Bodhisattva went to the place of the butchers filled with blood and bones. They did not kill him, but took him to the king. The king asked, "If there are many deer, why have you, the leader of the herd, come?" He told what had happened, and the king was very pleased, praising him, "You are a great person who benefits others, we are like livestock." Then he had him sit on the throne. He also taught the Dharma to the king, who was very pleased and from then on forbade people from harming the deer, and praised the leader of the herd. The leader of the herd thought, "The deer without a master are mourning, I should go back." The king agreed, and he returned to the forest. The deer saw him and came out to greet him, very happy. The previous doe had also safely given birth to her child, and happily told the story, and both herds of deer were well cared for. Therefore, the Bodhisattva takes the suffering of others as his own responsibility with great compassion, and we should respect this power of patience. Furthermore, in the past there was a King of Kalinga who possessed the virtues of subduing enemies, etc., and because he had no son, he prayed to the gods. A Brahmin minister named Chakshupada said to the king, "In order for you to have a son, please enter the residence of the consorts, and I will worship the gods and rule the country." The king did as he said, and as a result, one of the consorts became pregnant and gave birth to a child with auspicious marks and a radiance comparable to the moon, who was named Chandra (Moon), and he was the Bhagavan (Blessed One). The other thirty-four consorts also each gave birth to a son. One day, when Prince Chandra was eight years old...

He had attended upon the lamas of Lapo. During hunting and other times, Prince Moon surpassed the other princes in glory and strength of arms. He was empowered as the crown prince, and some territories were also given to the other young princes. Then, together with the other princes, he went to all his territories and saw a Brahmin named Dumbudzin (Sanskrit name), who was very wealthy. Seeing all the items named after him, Prince Moon thought: My father is only a king in name, this is the real king! Then the young men said: Then let's erase the name of Dumbudzin and write the name of Prince Moon. They did so. The Brahmin Dumbudzin became angry and gathered the Brahmins, saying: This prince has deprived me of my power, you must know that I will kill him! They said: Figure out a way yourself. Dumbudzin said: If the king has a dream and tells it in front of you, then ask the Brahmin Dumbudzin to explain the meaning of the dream. That's what he said. Later, the king dreamed that his body was bound and thrown into a wooden house. He asked the Brahmins, what does this dream mean? They said, as Dumbudzin knows the meaning of dreams, go and ask him. Dumbudzin said: This dream is not good, in two months, the king will lose his throne or die. The king was very unhappy to hear this, and painfully asked him what could be done. He said: O God, kill Prince Moon and the other princes together in the sacrifice. Make a large pool of blood, and if the king enters the pool of blood, he will be freed from the disaster. The king thought, if I survive, I will have talented sons again. So, he chained the other young men with iron chains and gave them to Dumbudzin as offerings for the sacrifice. Dumbudzin said, without Prince Moon, the sacrifice cannot be completed, call him here. The king sent a messenger saying: Prince Moon is very respectful to the guru and will not disobey the teachings, come here. The messenger
