Accompanied by many Rakshasas, his retinue and servants also became numerous. The Rakshasa retinue pleaded with the Rakshasa Red-foot, saying, "Since we have become your retinue and servants, please grant us a grand feast." Red-foot agreed and they discussed, "Let's kill five hundred princes to hold a feast." So they set out, captured the kings, and imprisoned them in a cave. They found four hundred and ninety-nine, but were missing one. The princes dwelling in the cave said to each other, "We are destitute and without refuge. If Prince Moon, who is powerful, were to come here, we might be saved." So they decided, "Let's plead with the Rakshasa to bring Prince Moon." They said, "O Rakshasa King, if you are to hold a feast, merely feasting on the flesh of us human kings will not make the feast grand. If you can find Prince Moon, who possesses great merit, then it will truly become a grand feast." The Rakshasa said, "What difficulty is there in this?" Saying this, he flew into the sky and went to Sutasoma. At that time, Prince Moon was acting as regent, and with the king's great wealth, he went to the pleasure garden. A well-spoken Brahmin came to Prince Moon, hoping to offer eloquent words and gain wealth. He came there, gazing at the prince's beautiful form, his heart filled with admiration. Before there was time to discuss Dharma with the Brahmin, the crowd of people made a great clamorous noise. The prince ordered, "Go and see what is happening." Those people fearfully reported, "The son of Rasudaya, the man-eating Rakshasa named Red-foot, has arrived!" They were afraid of him, and the armies scattered. What should we do? Then, the Bodhisattva understood Red-foot's situation and thought, "I will heal him with benefit." So he said, "If he comes here, I will be his guest." The entire retinue of consorts retreated weeping. Prince Moon himself went to the place of great clamor. He saw the terrifying and hideous Rakshasa Red-foot, brandishing a shield and sword, pursuing after the army. The Bodhisattva called out and said, "Hey, Moon is me! Are you here to eat human flesh?"

He said, "What is to be done with that miserly evil doctrine? Return here." When he returned, he saw the Bodhisattva alone, his nature peaceful, and said, "I have come to seek you too." Without hesitation, he grabbed his shoulder and fled. The Bodhisattva thought, "Now is not the time to subdue him," and sat indifferently. There, he was placed in a disgusting place filled with many unkilled skeletons and stained with blood. Prince Moon widened his eyes and gazed at his perfect body. Then, the Bodhisattva thought, when the Brahmin who came with the gift of eloquent speech learns that I have been taken away, he will be in despair, and I have not fulfilled his expectations. Thinking this, he shed tears of compassion. The Rakshasa looked at him and laughed, "You are known to be steadfast with many virtues. However, when I have power over you, shedding tears like this, are you crying because you remember your life or some other suffering?" Prince Moon said, "I am not unhappy because I remember life or other sufferings. But because now in the garden, a Brahmin is carrying the gift of eloquent speech, hoping to obtain wealth from me, but I have been taken away, and the Brahmin will be in despair. Thinking of this, I shed tears. If you have compassion for me, release me. I will listen to the eloquent speech from that Brahmin, give alms, and then I will return here." The Rakshasa said, "If I release you, will you be able to return?" The King said, "I have never spoken falsely since birth, so it is impossible to break my vow. However, if you do not believe me, even if I do not come in the future, you have the power to seize me. I came to you myself before." Having said this, the Rakshasa released him. When the prince returned, as if escaping from the mouth of Yama, his people were very happy. He summoned the Brahmin and received four verses from him. There, one verse was also valued at a thousand gold coins. So he offered four thousand gold coins and whatever else he desired. After that, the prince's father, seeing such a great loss of wealth for such a small matter, said gently, "Son, what is better than eloquent speech?
