Having taken a wife who was beautiful and pleasing to look at, but that wife was promiscuous and desired other men, living with an old Brahmin, not satisfied in her heart, wanting to sleep with other men, she urged him to seek wealth so that she could go elsewhere, so he went to another place. Having found many karshapanas, he was robbed by bandits on the way back, and was very distressed, thinking that even if he went home now, he would have a great quarrel with the Brahmin woman, so he thought he would hang himself on a tree in the dense forest and die by suffocation, and so he planned. At that time, the Buddha Shakyamuni thought of him and went from Shravasti to that forest, saying: Brahmin, do not do foolish things! I will give you wealth. Having said this, he revealed the treasure, saying: This is your wealth, do not abandon it because you are stingy with your life. Having said this, he left again. That Brahmin took the wealth and went to his own home, became wealthy, and began to engage in the virtuous deeds of giving. The next day, he thought: The ascetic Gautama is beneficial to me, I should leave home and become a monk in his presence. So he prostrated to the Blessed One, and by listening to the Dharma, he manifested the fruit of stream-entry, and having become a monk and practiced diligently, he attained the state of Arhat, it is said that he was the Brahmin of the past. When a lord of men possesses no small amount of merit, he does not fight with enemies, but goes to the forest. In order to liberate the relatives of a Brahmin who were imprisoned, he begged for money, but having no money to give, he said: Cut off my head and give it to the enemy king. But the other party did not agree, so he tied him up and offered him to the enemy, who released the prisoners, and he himself obtained the kingdom, which is similar to the previous situation. Again, in the past, countless eons ago, in this Jambudvipa, in the country of Varanasi (modern Varanasi, India), there was a king named Balamada, who led four armies and went to play in the garden. He encountered a deer and chased after it. The king went alone into the dense forest, dismounted from his horse and sat down. A lioness, driven by lust, came and met the king, raising her tail and approaching him. The king also had thoughts arising from lust, thinking that this wild beast would be angry

Because it had the power to kill, if things didn't go its way, it felt like it would lose its life. Frightened, it engaged in intercourse with the lioness. After the lioness left, the servants arrived, greeted the king, and led him to the palace. The lioness, after being pregnant for a full month, gave birth to a child whose body was entirely like a human's, but only its feet were spotted. The lioness thought it was the king's son, so she carried it on her back and delivered it to the king. The king also knew it was his son, so he raised and nurtured him, naming him Spotted Foot, and he became brave and daring. After that king passed away, Spotted Foot obtained the king's throne and took two consorts, one from the Kshatriya caste and one from the Brahmin caste. At that time, when the king went for a stroll in the garden, he said to the two consorts: "You two follow closely behind me and come quickly. Whoever meets me first will enjoy a day of pleasure with me, and whoever comes later will not be able to meet me." Having said this, he left. The two consorts also adorned themselves with ornaments and, riding young steeds, set out at the same time. On the way, there was a shrine to a deity. The consort of the Brahmin caste dismounted from her steed, paid homage, and then hurried on, so she was late. The king did not allow her to meet him. That consort became angry with the deity, saying: "Because I paid homage to you, I was late, and the king was displeased. If you, deity, have any power, why don't you protect me?" Thinking of harming the king, she returned to the palace. That consort said to the king: "Please grant me the authority to be happy for one day." The king agreed. So he sent many people to destroy the shrine and level the ground. The deity guarding the shrine was very unhappy and, thinking of harming the king, went, but the palace guardian deity did not let him in. At that time, there was a hermit living in the mountains whom King Spotted Foot had been making offerings to. He would fly to the palace every day, not desiring delicious food, but eating only ordinary food and then leaving. One day, knowing that the hermit was not coming, that deity transformed into the form of the hermit and came to the palace, but the palace guardian deity stopped him.
