Furthermore, there was one named "Bewitching Woman" who was captivating. Her father said to the king, "If a precious woman appears in your country, whether you will take her or not, you know yourself." The king had the Brahmins investigate whether she was suitable. When that girl served food to the Brahmins, they only stared at that girl and could not eat, so her father made the girl invisible, and then gave them food, and then left. Those Brahmins thought, "This is like an illusion of the eyes, a disguised form. She is so beautiful that she can even deceive ascetics. If we meet her, the king will surely be infatuated and neglect the affairs of religion and politics." So they said to the king, "Although she is beautiful, she has bad omens. The king should not look at her, let alone marry her." Hearing this, the king had no desire. Knowing that the king did not like her, she was given to a minister. When the king went to the Kumuda flower festival, the Bewitching Woman thought, "This king said I had bad omens and abandoned me." So she dressed up very beautifully and looked down from the roof. When the king saw her, he looked at her for a long time with surprised eyes, thinking, "Is this a goddess or an Asura or what?" Before he had seen enough, he left in another chariot, feeling unhappy and thinking only of her. When he returned to his residence, he asked the charioteer who that woman was. The charioteer replied, "She is the wife of Minister Abhipa Raka, named Bewitching Woman." Learning that the girl had become someone else's wife, he felt hopeless and thought, "That Bewitching Woman is truly worthy of her name." Because of the bewilderment of desire, he lost his steadfastness and felt uneasy. His appearance, eyes, and flesh became thin and emaciated. The owner of the Bewitching Woman, that minister, was skilled in omens and knew that the king was so unwell because of desire. Because he was loyal to the king, he secretly reported to the king in a secluded place, "When I was worshiping the gods this morning, a Yaksha said, 'The king is infatuated with the Bewitching Woman, don't you know?' After saying that, he disappeared. If that is so, why didn't the god tell me? The Bewitching Woman is for the sake of loving me..."

Please accept! Hearing this, the king felt ashamed and lowered his head. Although he was controlled by desire, because he was accustomed to thinking about the Dharma, he did not want to fall firmly, so he said: This is not appropriate, it will cause merit to decline. I will also die, and you will also feel sad because of being separated from her, therefore, this life and the next will cause harm to both of us. The Dharma that unwise children believe in, wise people will not believe in. The minister said: Please do not suspect that it is contrary to the Dharma. If you help me give alms, you will gain merit; if you do not accept, obstructing my giving alms will become without merit. There is also no opportunity for bad talk. Who will know this besides the two of us? Therefore, there is no need to feel ashamed because of people. The king said: Even if you love me very much, such almsgiving is not appropriate. Even if someone does evil in a place where no one can see, they will feel uncomfortable like eating poison, because gods and yogis cannot possibly not see. Furthermore, if you give this away, you will also feel pain. The minister said: You are the monarch, I am the subject, you have the right to dispose of this maidservant, what conflict does this have with the Dharma? This maidservant has been poor to the end for me, if you give away poverty, the next life will be very happy, hearing poverty, please accept this goddess! The king said: Do not say that! Even if one gains glory by practicing the Dharma purely, it is easier to stab with a knife or enter the fire than to harm the almsgiver. The minister said: If this goddess does not accept, then let her be a prostitute that everyone can enjoy! So please accept this! The king said: Are you drunk? How can I punish an innocent wife with my punishment? If that is the case, you will become an object of slander, and you will be burned in this life and the next, so do not say too much about what should not be done, be happy with reason! That minister said: If you, the king, are happy, my heart is happy, even if it is contrary to the Dharma or slandered by people, I can endure it. Because there is no better protector than you, please accept this to increase my merit! The king said: Because you love me and do not consider my interests, I am even more disgusted with you.
