Having planted the seeds, he passed away. Again, in a certain cave, a creature transformed into a loving marmot. A hunter skinned it and left it. Because it was in great pain, it lay down by a cool riverbank. Then, eight hundred thousand ants from an anthill devoured it. Although it could have escaped, it thought that if it did, these beings would become even more cruel. So it remained still, allowing all its flesh to be eaten, and made aspirations for the sake of unsurpassed enlightenment. Again, there was a young Naga named Champaka, who was faithful and kind-hearted. He took the vows of purification on the eighth and fourteenth days of the month, and then transformed into a large body in another place, abandoning his body without regard for it. At that time, there was a famine, and many people, including cowherds, cut and ate the Naga's flesh, and many were satisfied in this way. Again, when he was reborn as a prince named Gewa Dondrup, he was frightened by the army led by the minister Rahu. He fled on a long road and ran out of provisions. He then gave his body to his parents, as described in the sutra "Liberation from the Monastery, Repaying Kindness." Again, there was a prince named Metok (Flower), who was beautiful and possessed great royal wealth. He was afflicted with leprosy. He dug out his own leg and smeared it on his body, and as a result, the disease was cured. In this way, in the past, the Bhagavan gave his eyes, blood, limbs, and so on for the sake of attaining unsurpassed enlightenment, and their number and extent cannot be measured. Just as the great ocean is completely filled with water, and the dust of Mount Meru, the king of mountains, can be measured, but the number of eyes and so on given by the Bodhisattva cannot be measured, as it is said in the sutras. Again, as asked by Gangpo, in a previous life, when the Bhagavan was a Bodhisattva, he went alone without companions and was killed by wild animals. As he was dying, he knew that those wild animals had killed and eaten many beings but were still not satisfied. So he made the aspiration: "May I be reborn as a large animal, so that these cruel wild animals may devour me and be satisfied." In this way, he was reborn as a large animal and satisfied all the wild animals. In this way, in countless billions of lifetimes, he gave his body to benefit sentient beings, experiencing countless kalpas or

It is said that, far surpassing the kalpa, in the past, when bodhisattvas practiced generosity, they satisfied hungry and thirsty beings with their own flesh and blood, which could not be exhausted even if spoken of. Thus it is said. Thus, only a small part of the bodhisattva's act of giving is mentioned in the sutras. Here, only a rough summary is given, not all of it. Furthermore, in the past, there was a king named Lord of Power, who ruled over eighty-four thousand great cities. At that time, a great epidemic kalpa occurred in the world. When the king's queen became pregnant, all diseases were cured by merely touching the queen's body with her hands. After the months were complete, a boy was born, and as soon as he was born, he said, "I am able to heal the sick." At that time, all the gods and nagas of the world unanimously said, "This is human medicine." Because this sound spread everywhere, his name was also known as Human Medicine. At that time, all the sick people were brought to see the prince. By merely touching the prince's body or hands, all diseases were cured and they became happy. Similarly, he healed all the sick people living in Jambudvipa and lived for a thousand years. After the prince passed away, the sick people cried out, "Who will liberate us from suffering?" Then, they took the ashes from the place where the prince was cremated and smeared them on their bodies, and all the diseases were cured. It is still said that Human Medicine can cure diseases. After the bones were used up, those who smeared themselves with the soil, ashes, and charcoal from the cremation site were also freed from diseases. Therefore, Human Medicine is the Bhagavan (World-Honored One) himself. In other Jataka tales, there is a story called Sentient Being Medicine, which is similar to this. His body is preserved uncorrupted in a happy pond, and by touching his body, touching his pus, and drinking the water in that direction, all are freed from diseases. It is said that even hearing his name now can purify diseases. Furthermore, in the past, there was a merchant named Well-Obtained, who went to sea and obtained jewels. On his way back, before he reached home, beggars asked him for jewels.
