As it is. Through these scriptures and reasonings, one can realize freedom from elaboration, but in any case, the words and thoughts of scriptures and reasonings cannot transcend elaboration. Because of this, in the sutras and treatises, the meaning of the nature of reality being free from elaboration is expressed in two ways: sometimes it is said to be beyond the scope of metaphors, arguments, words, and thoughts, and sometimes it is established and proclaimed through metaphors, arguments, scriptures, and reasonings. If one cannot explain the non-contradiction of each view and becomes one-sided, then if one holds onto one aspect of the view, one must necessarily abandon the other. Like this, if one only acknowledges the meaning established by words and concepts, and insists that there is no other deeper meaning beyond that, then if one acknowledges it as knowable, one must acknowledge that it is only something that can be measured by direct perception. If so, the Buddha, because he did not know the nature of reality that is not the object of all concepts, would not be able to surpass the non-Buddhists. As it is said in the Ornament of Sutras: "Harms the three perfect enlightenments." Therefore, one must acknowledge that there are no three: profound realization, non-common realization with non-Buddhists, and transcendent realization, as quoted above, "Why is the profound not the object of conceptual thought?" Furthermore, if one thinks that the ultimate truth is inconceivable, and that its nature is beyond the scope of words and concepts, but if one acknowledges that there are no words and concepts that establish it at all, then no one can know it, just like the non-Buddhists' acceptance of an inconceivable creator, there is no valid cognition to establish it, and all the actions of establishing it by sutras, tantras, and treatises will become meaningless. Therefore, the wisdom of one-sided views, like the eye of a needle, cannot enjoy happiness in the vast ocean of the profound and immeasurable teachings of the Buddhas and great chariot-like sons of the Buddhas. Therefore, you yourself said, "The waves of the ocean of sutras and tantras, right and wrong." and the previous saying, "In the past, the conduct of the sons of the Buddhas, in the deep and vast ocean, swimming with weak intelligence, without reaching the island of profound meaning, seeing the dance of vines of words and meanings." To whom are these words addressed?

Whether it is suitable or not, it becomes the basis for discussion. Furthermore, he said, if one abides in being free from the four extremes, then abiding in the complete severance of the four extremes, if one does not acknowledge abiding in that which is established as utterly free from extremes, is that not contradicting oneself? If asked in this way, saying that one abides in that is to say that one abides in not abiding in any extreme, but in reality, it is no different in meaning from having no place of abiding at all. As it says in the Explication of Intent: "Bhagavan, if one grasps emptiness with the Perfection of Wisdom, why not grasp that which possesses essence as well?" The Buddha replied: "Avalokiteśvara, I do not say that I grasp the essence of emptiness, but without the indication of letters, emptiness cannot be indicated. Without letters, individual self-awareness cannot be shown. Therefore, it is said that one grasps emptiness." Thus, the so-called grasping of emptiness means that one realizes that all phenomena are without essence, thereby abandoning all views and indicating the meaning of non-letters, rather than grasping emptiness as a manifest sign. If one understands in this way, one will understand the definitive meaning of the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra. Otherwise, one will not understand. As it says in the Sutra Requested by the King of Magical Manifestations: "If one knows that the meaning of all Sutras ultimately leads to the meaning of that which cannot be expressed, then all will become definitive meaning." King of Magical Manifestations, if one relies on this Dharma nature in this way, then all Sutras will become definitive in meaning. If one does not rely on it in this way, then all Sutras will become provisional in meaning. If one grasps the definitive meaning of the profound Sutra's teachings, which contradicts the inexpressible Dharma nature, as an object of expression and thought, then it will become provisional meaning, just as it needs to be guided again by words. As it says in the Laṅkāvatāra Sutra: "Its principle is twofold: tenets and teachings. Words are explained to children, tenets to yogis." The so-called teachings or words refer to the various Sutras' words and letters that indicate according to the inclinations of sentient beings. The tenets of these teachings are: being free from extremes such as one and different, two and not two, etc...
