The fifth truth is the indivisible, inexpressible reality, Seen in a non-dual manner. Such ultimate truth, merely stating that it is an object of consciousness, need not be examined here, for there is no doubt about it. Why? Because here, it is the occasion to ascertain the ultimate truth in order to realize it directly, and even if it is merely a term, if it is not an object, no one can know it, therefore it is impossible to ascertain it. So even if it is said that the ultimate truth is not an object of consciousness, it will not be understood as meaning to negate that it is an object established by name. Then, how is it understood? When ascertaining the ultimate truth and establishing emptiness of inherent existence through reasoning, if one holds the emptiness to be established as an object of focus, it is difficult to realize that the ultimate truth is beyond elaboration, therefore it is taught in this way. For example, when saying "the sky cannot be looked at," it is not saying that there are no eyes in the world that are directed towards the sky and looking, nor is it necessary to say that there are, because it is already certain even if it is not said. Therefore, even if that statement says that there are people in the world who look at the sky, in reality, there is no form in the sky, so it is said that it cannot be looked at. Similarly, the ultimate truth is empty of all objects of focus, therefore it is shown that it is not an object that can be grasped by consciousness. The sutra says, "'Seeing the sky' is a common expression among sentient beings." And it says, "Seeing the ultimate truth is a term of praise for not seeing anything." etc. In the Sutra on the Exposition of the Aspects of Enlightenment, it says, "Manjushri, whoever sees all phenomena as non-different, non-dual, and indivisible, this is the correct view." And in the Root Wisdom, it says, "Not known from others, peaceful, unelaborated by elaborations, without conceptualization, without different meanings, that is the characteristic of suchness." And "What is said is ceased, the activity of the mind is also ceased, unborn and unceasing, the nature of phenomena is like nirvana." And in the Praise to the Mother by Rahula, it says, "Ineffable, unthinkable, inexpressible Prajnaparamita, unborn, unceasing, the nature of space, the realm of the self-aware wisdom of each individual." etc.

Homage! I prostrate to the mother of the Buddhas of the three times! As it is said. When explaining the profound meaning, do not utter disrespectful words out of fear, but merely reveal the truth within oneself. No one can exhaust the profound ultimate truth, and turning away from the Mahayana Dharma has immeasurable faults. So, how can such a reality free from elaboration be directly realized if it is not an object to be observed as a target? As it is said: When the unborn is that itself, and the mind is also free from arising and ceasing, at that time, it depends on that condition, and it realizes that by that. Just as the mind becomes the form of whatever, that is the object, and knowing that completely, it is awareness based on terminology. As it is said, the reality that is originally free from all elaborations, in that state, the wisdom that dispels all the nets of elaboration, without the duality of subject and object, is luminous and clear, and is of a nature that is extremely difficult to express. Because of what has been said, the ultimate truth is not the object of the mind, and the mind is considered to be conventional. As it is said, the ultimate truth is not the object of the mind, why is that? Because in its own nature, the mind that has an object is considered to be the object of the conventional. Thus, it shows that for the ultimate truth, all objects are completely cut off. It shows that if one does not separate from such an object, it will become conventional. Therefore, merely saying that the non-dual mind has realized it is not just a name, but it is very important for those who want to understand the ultimate truth by establishing the way of realizing it with non-duality. If one does not understand it in this way, merely saying that the object of the non-dual mind's direct realization is the nature of the ultimate truth, then that alone also exists in self-awareness, and other schools also think so, so the ultimate truth cannot be thoroughly determined. Therefore, it is very reasonable to take the first line as the proposition and the second line as the argument, which is explained in the Indian commentaries, because it explains the profound meaning. Thus, the mind that has an object that is aimed at signs, that is, the conventional mind, although it is said that it cannot measure the self-characteristic of the ultimate truth, there is no fault at all. Because in its own nature, the mind that has an object of signs is actually a dualistic
