This itself is emptiness, and whatever is empty appears as forms and so on. Therefore, unless one has realized the dharmadhatu of the union of appearance and emptiness, free from the two extremes of imputation and denial, one is not a true follower of the Perfection of Wisdom. Glorious Chandrakirti and Shantideva and others, from the very beginning, have emphasized the wisdom of self-awareness that is free from the four extremes. In this way, even the conventionally established self-character is negated, thus preventing the grasping of the two truths as separate entities, and transforming it into the union of appearance and emptiness. Because they have attained the state of ultimate reality, and because the key point of their view is the abandonment of all assertions, they refute all aspects of existence and non-existence with consequentialism, hence the name "Consequentialist." The great scholar Butön and others consider this distinction between Svatantrika and Prasangika to be a Tibetan fabrication, not found in India. However, there is no difference in the ultimate meaning, only in the way the teachings are presented. For example, in Buddhapalita's treatise, Lekteng criticizes him for not applying the distinction of ultimate truth to the object to be refuted, which Chandrakirti refutes. Therefore, although these great chariots of Svatantrika and Prasangika have no difference in the key point of the ultimate intention, they are merely different ways of presenting the ultimate truth, emphasizing the conceptual and non-conceptual. For details, see the commentary on the Ornament of the Middle Way. Therefore, in the case of the Prasangika, since they emphasize the great Madhyamaka of union that is free from elaboration, it should be understood that in this system there is no division into conceptual and non-conceptual ultimate truth. Some say that the wisdom of the noble ones is the nature of the non-conceptual ultimate truth, and that it is free from elaboration. All emptiness meditations of ordinary beings are said to be meditations on mere negation, which is the common ultimate truth. However, here, when explaining emptiness, the negation of form and so on is only a negation of existence, because if it were not negated, one would ultimately cling to things as real, and therefore it would not serve the purpose of emptiness. Since dependent arising appears without deception, it is the union of appearance and emptiness, so it is necessary to destroy the grasping of negation and affirmation. As it is said: Having understood that all phenomena are empty, upon what do actions and their results depend?

It is more wonderful than wonderful, it is more marvelous than marvelous. As it is said. From the Five Stages: Appearance and emptiness, if one knows their respective parts, wherever they are truly mixed, that is said to be union. As it is. Some say that this is the meditation of the mantra path, not the sutra path. However, the union that is free from the four extremes, the difference between meditating with mental speculation and forcibly arising with skillful means, is only this, there is no difference in the essence of Dharma. Therefore, although the analytical meditation of ordinary beings who examine the nature of reality cannot simultaneously refute the four extremes, if one does not generate understanding and experience of the meaning of non-objectification, the essence of union, by blocking all four in a rotating manner, then just as the sprout of a fruit grows from a barley seed, the wisdom of the noble ones will not arise without cause, so why not meditate on the accumulation stage? Therefore, the true state of affairs, the ultimate truth, is free from all extremes of existence, non-existence, both, and non-both, so it is not the object of the mind. Because mind and speech are conventional truths, not ultimate truths. The mind clings to and fabricates "this is this," and speech expresses "this is this," whatever dharma becomes the object of mind and speech, if examined, is empty like an illusion because it is completely empty, and can never withstand analysis. Therefore, the Blessed One said in the sutra: Son of the gods, if the ultimate truth becomes the object of body, speech, and mind, then it does not belong to the category of ultimate truth, but becomes conventional truth. Son of the gods, however, the ultimate truth is beyond all expressions, and is unborn, unceasing, unspeakable, speakable, knowable, and knowable. As long as it transcends the realm of the omniscient wisdom that possesses all the best of all aspects, that is the ultimate truth. As it is said. It is also said in the Ornament: In truth, it is liberated from all collections of proliferation, even if it depends on discrimination, it becomes conventional and not true. As it is. Therefore, here it is said that the nature of reality is not knowable, because the nature of reality transcends all proliferation.
