If we examine its meaning, since there is not the slightest established edge or "this," then that conceptualization also has no limit to its examination. In this way, if the means of establishing a thesis has no essence that can be analyzed, then what is the means of establishing a thesis as an object? It is impossible to be truly established. Because the world cannot be a means of true examination, the terms examined by worldly people can be established as a means of knowledge, but in the true sense, on this path of practicing yoga, it is not necessary to take the confused terms of the world as a means of knowledge. The fifth general meaning, what to examine and realize, there are two: examining all afflictions and examining pure objects. First, there are two reasons: the reason for the nature of delusion and the reason for how delusion appears. The first is: the reason for examining the limits of how all afflictive objects to be examined are established is to examine the history of all things without error. In this case of seeking the supreme path, one should examine without error. The objects that appear manifestly in the minds of all beings, and the dharmas that are said to have six external objects and six internal faculties, if examined well, examine how the six entrances, consciousnesses, and attachments see, hear, etc., in the object, then it is not as it appears and is falsely established, because it is delusion. If what one's ignorance and conceptualization experiences and grasps is also true in the reality of things, then ordinary beings seeing the nature of things would be no different from seeing the truth, so it is possible to be liberated from samsara like the arhats who realize that things do not exist, and if possible, then ordinary beings are destroyed by the enemy of time such as old age and death, and are threatened by the three and eight sufferings, so it is clear or obvious that this is delusion. Otherwise, if it is not delusion, but the consciousnesses arising from the twelve sources such as the eye become valid, then the perceptions of beings become valid, so beings naturally have the noble path, so the noble path does not need to be new to anyone, but the path seen by beings is shown as the path of liberation, and the faculties are material.

Because of relying on this, the consciousness arising from the senses cannot be liberated from the suffering of samsara. Why is that? Because the consciousness that sees the various appearances of sentient beings not only cannot eliminate any suffering, but such nominal consciousness is the source of the arising of afflictions. Therefore, what ordinary people see is obviously wrong from the perspective of reasoning, and it is also said in the scriptures that even the noble ones consider it to be wrong. The second part, in the old chapter division, it was said that there are nine categories, but here, for the sake of easy explanation, it is divided into two: showing how it appears in name, and showing that self-nature is not established in ultimate truth. The first part has three: identifying the basis from which it appears, showing that thinking it is different from this is wrong, and determining its true nature as it is. The first is: because it appears as an error, how will these erroneous appearances appear to sentient beings due to the cause of error? The nature of sentient beings' minds is universally conceptual, and that is also the universal conceptualization of grasping the grasper and the grasped in an incorrect way, and from beginningless time, it naturally weakens without effort and produces errors. Like this, because the correct meaning is not seen, wisdom is reversed, and because it is controlled by the cause of ignorance that deviates from the reality of things, it does not have the power to see the truth. Therefore, the mind, the eight aggregates of consciousness, and the fifty-one mental factors, as well as the meaning of the three bodies that will be discussed below, appear as form, self, and consciousness. Through the various actions of good and evil karma, habits are accumulated, and due to the power of habit, the power of the previous habits is enhanced, and when it has the power to produce results, one's own mind appears similar to the external environment and the internal body, for example, being accustomed to impurity, all places appear to be filled with bones, one's own mind appears like that. In the alaya consciousness, for the continuum of accumulating various habits, the object of the thought of "I" arises, but apart from the thought of "I", there is no real "I" that has been carefully examined, just as when a rope is mistaken for a snake, there is only the grasping of the snake but no snake. Because the mind manifests the power of fabricated dharmas in a coarse way, the subtle alaya consciousness is difficult to perceive and is obscured.
