Just like a precious gem with various spots. All the different things and phenomena have the same essence, summing them up into one whole and clinging to that view. According to these views, for the various things, those minds that hold these things, it is also impossible to appear as a single essence. If various things are not regarded as various things, then how can knowledge be in accordance with things? If it is not in accordance, then it cannot be said that it understands that thing. Therefore, their view is that all knowable things have one complete essence, just like a jewel and variegated colors. If everyone's understanding becomes the same, because the object is the same, then it will not be the same. Because for it, there are two ways: the way of linguistic expression and the way of consciousness entering. First, they think that for the one thing with multiple essences, multiple meanings should be expressed in a single way, therefore, the respective essences of blue, yellow, etc., are considered to be that way or are set as that way. Or express them simultaneously like "many" or "all," or express things like "form and sound" sequentially. Apart from these two ways of expressing with words, there is no other way. Therefore, whether expressing each detail of the thing one wants to express sequentially, or expressing it itself simultaneously, in reality, it does not go beyond the single essence of the thing. Similarly, the way of holding by consciousness is also like that. For example, for the essence of a variegated thing, even if similar, just like everyone distinguishes its colors according to their own preferences, distinguishing each detail such as blue, yellow, etc., and holding them. Therefore, things are not single, but have multiple essences. Therefore, consciousness has two ways of arising towards it: holding it as one without difference and holding it by distinguishing it. The Naked Ones and others say this. In the auto-commentary, the two shlokas spoken by the previous party are also quoted, which is this meaning. As for their intention, variegated means that the essence is single. If variegated does not have various colors, then it cannot be variegated. Therefore, just as setting a variegated thing with various colors as one, they think that things should also be one with various qualities. They have not understood that it is only a nominal one, but regard it as a truly existent one. Therefore, on the truly existent one, multiplicity is not

If so, it would follow that anything is impossible, and hundreds of sharp arrows of reason would strike simultaneously. Regarding this verse, some people take the example of "Norbu's Gezi" as referring to butter in the area, but this is inappropriate because it is not related to the previous view. Second, refuting the system of the Materialists. It is said: "When earth and so on are assembled, all places and faculties are established, who accepts that in his system, there is no unity and union with one thing." That is, in the past, when the gods and demigods fought, the gods, because of their naturally virtuous nature, did not like to fight, and when the gods were about to be defeated, the god Phur Bu composed treatises without past and future lives, which were gradually spread in the human realm by Grongkharwa and others, who took these as their standards, and were known as the Phur Bu school, the Materialists, the Charvakas, and so on. In short, their view is that they do not accept the cause and effect of past and future lives, nor do they accept beings who have not seen the all-knowing, and so on. For the sake of benefiting this life, they worship Indra and the sun and moon as gods, and take the Essence of Views and the Six Tantras of Phur Bu as their standards. Their tenets are also understood through one kind of reasoning, three examples, and four ways. They do not accept past and future lives, etc., because they have not seen them in their own sensory experience, which is "one kind of reasoning." The three examples are: the example of no cause is mushrooms sprouting on the grass; the example of no result is ashes scattered by the wind; the example of arising from nature is the sun rising, rivers flowing downwards, beans being round, thorns being sharp, and so on. The four ways are: even if there are no past and future lives, there is still happiness and suffering in the present world; like the self-existent God, even if there is no transference of past and future lives, there are still inherent characteristics when the body is suddenly formed; just as when the elements such as earth assemble, there is a cause that can generate intelligence, just as yeast can generate the ability to intoxicate, new consciousness arises; even if liberation is not attained through practicing asceticism, when one dies naturally, everything merges into the same realm of reality, if one knows the way of no cause and effect, one will not rely on fatigue, etc. for the sake of attaining liberation, and the teachings of the Materialists are not meaningless. That is what they think. The root cause for establishing these tenets is that the next world does not appear directly.
