If there is no self, then its sphere of activity, nirvana, is not empty. If self-arisen particles are thoroughly eliminated, then how can the bodies of the Sugatas arise? How is this said? Here, the "self" should be determined as non-conceptual wisdom. Thirdly, just as fire and the like do not exist ultimately, but in conventional terms there is heat and so on, the infallibility of cause and effect is established by valid cognition. Therefore, clinging to self like Mount Meru does not cause harm, but clinging to emptiness itself causes harm, because it is due to examining with the untruth of pride. It is said: If one views emptiness incorrectly, those with little wisdom will be destroyed, just like wrongly grasping an illusion, or wrongly practicing a mantra. Furthermore, in the Mahayana Sutra, it is said that a Bodhisattva who clings to the literal meaning of the Dharma will have twenty-eight kinds of nihilistic views, which are like rotten seeds. Those three fools, with their minds decayed and fallen into a lower state, remain in this condition. Even if one practices virtue with a wrong view, all maturation is still subject to depletion. Therefore, the wrong view itself is a lower state. Secondly, if one thinks that one is clinging to the existence of things, that is not the case, as previously stated, it is similar to Suchness or space. Some yogis who claim to be proponents of philosophical systems, between the Mind-Only school, their minds are extremely deluded, not only are they deluded about the nature of reality, but they are also extremely deluded about space, which is the basis of phenomena. For example, if one examines space, although there is nothing that can be grasped by knowledge, in conventional terms, it is possible to apply names such as expressing understanding, but there is nothing else, or it is like clinging to space as if it were a real entity. Because of this, even experiencing the fruits of cyclic happiness brought about by generosity and so on, because it is a contaminated place, it is not a permanent source of benefit. They only obtain happiness for a short period of time, but it cannot be said that they are liberated from samsara or karmic afflictions. Regarding this, Nagarjuna said: Indra, having become worthy of worship in the world, falls back to earth due to karma. Even having become a universal monarch, one may become a slave in samsara. And so on. This is how it is said. Third

Then, what is thought to liberate? Because the fault of clinging to extremes has been pointed out before, one should not say that things exist, and one should also abandon the mind that thinks things do not exist. Those who wish to attain the state of omniscience should not abide in the two extremes, just as they do not abide in the middle or between the two. Thus, not abiding in anything is liberation. Secondly, in explaining the specific tenets of external and internal schools, there are two: the external schools to be abandoned after understanding, and the internal schools to be adopted. First, the external schools are divided into three parts: stating their views and assertions, showing their asceticism and meditation, and pointing out their inverted errors and refuting them. The first part is divided into two views: permanence and annihilation. The first is: those who regard the great god Shiva as a deity, such as the Shiva-pas or Maheshvaras and the proponents of time, believe that each has various qualities. Among them, the Maheshvaras believe that the qualities of Maheshvara are: he can transform various things, so he is subtle; he can gather, expand, and abide in the elements, so he is light; he is praised by all, so he is worthy of offering; he becomes the ruler of all lords, and everything is under his control; he can go anywhere as he pleases; he can fulfill any wish just by opening his eyes, so he possesses everything desired; he obtains everything just by thinking, so he abides in joy. They believe that Maheshvara possesses these eight qualities and that he creates everything. They say: "Someone becomes subtle and dwells alone in the place of birth. He creates and destroys all this. He is the supreme god with power, to be worshiped by the gods, performing merits, and attaining great peace. Does this creator have knowledge? My own happiness and suffering, I have no autonomy. Whether Maheshvara abandons me or throws me into a cliff, I will only go to the heavens." The proponents of time believe that the qualities of time are: "Time dissolves the elements, time gathers and scatters beings, time puts people to sleep and awakens them, so time is difficult to overcome." They believe that time creates everything, so it is difficult to overcome time. Similarly, one should also examine the qualities of the water god, Vaishravana, Kama's son, the sun, and the moon, etc. The Samkhya school of thought
