In the time of the cause, the subsequent person is non-existent because they are unborn. If there is no prior cause, it is also unreasonable for the subsequent effect to arise. At the time of arising, the prior cause has ceased and vanished, so it is unreasonable for the separate states of before and after to be one. Therefore, the permanent, singular, and independent self that sentient beings grasp is not established. Therefore, if we analyze in this way, if there is no dependence, the unborn will surely become like a lotus in the sky. If it exists, it only arises dependently or from a cause. Once it arises from a cause, it cannot be established by its own nature, because what was previously non-existent is fabricated by conditions, so there is not the slightest difference from a reflection. In short, the very thing that arises from conditions becomes the mark of emptiness, and if things were established by their own nature, they would have to arise from one of the four: self, other, etc. Analyzing in this way, since it does not arise from the four extremes, one should know that it only arises dependently. By the meaning of arising dependently, one cannot find self-nature, so one should understand it as emptiness. Then, who goes from here to the other shore? How are these dharmas of coming and going? If you think like this, these conditioned phenomena arise from causes, and the five afflictions, etc., are also emptiness that cannot be found if you analyze their nature. Therefore, from the causes of dharmas that are only emptiness, without the slightest bit of non-emptiness, only the fruits of dharmas that are empty when their nature is analyzed arise. Because both cause and effect are without non-emptiness, in the other world, not even a particle goes in ultimate truth. All apparent going is merely a designation that relies on the state of cause and effect. Therefore, one should understand that everything is only dharmas without self and what belongs to self. Fifth, what is the example of a dharma without self-nature arising from a dharma without self-nature? It is shown by understanding from recitation and lamp. It is shown by the part between "understanding from recitation and lamp". That is to say, even if it is without self, there is an example of establishing the other world. Like this, the words spoken from the mouth of the lama, transmitted to the disciple, are only dependent arising, not permanent nor annihilated. For example, a recitation spoken from the mouth of another, such as "ye dharmā (藏文:ཡེ་དྷརྨཱ་,梵文天城体:ये धर्मा,梵文罗马拟音:ye dharmā,汉语字面意思:诸法)" and so on. If it is understood by another, it is like the "ye dharmā (藏文:ཡེ་དྷརྨཱ་,梵文天城体:ये धर्मा,梵文罗马拟音:ye dharmā,汉语字面意思:诸法)" of the owner of the recitation.
