There is no reason for it to come about in that way, and if that method is examined, it cannot withstand scrutiny. Here, having understood the area of the patient's wrist pulse in that way, even if examined with three fingers or one finger, the pulse at that location will never change, so it is certain. However, according to experience, between each cun, guan, and chi, the qi and blood of the six viscera and bowels each flow without mixing. How is the strength and weakness of the pulse of the viscera and bowels between the first wrinkle and the bone protrusion? From the bone protrusion downwards, again measuring the range between the patient's cun, guan, and chi, examining the pulse of the viscera and bowels is also the same as before. The key to its occurrence lies in this. The way the ancient Tibetans examined the wrist pulse could also be understood to some extent, and I think the key lies in this. Since there are so many pulses, why examine the pulse only at this location? Because the pulse that harmonizes qi and blood is present in all parts of the body, upper and lower, but if the neck pulse, etc., which is very close to the viscera and bowels, is examined, it is difficult to examine, like a river overflowing. The ankle pulse, etc., which is far away, is like the words of a distant guest, and cannot clearly show the cold and heat of the viscera and bowels. Therefore, examining the wrist pulse, which is neither too close nor too far, is like sounding a summer drum at a place where there is an echo, and it will surely give a definite result without doubt, just as it will not be mistaken for the sound of a dragon. Here, there is "the horn and summer sound that echo, like the sound of a dragon," and also the explanation that "only in a place where there is an echo, people call out to each other in summer, etc., because the summer dust, etc., has subsided, so the sound can be heard clearly." As an example, no matter how it is said, there is not much contradiction, but it should be understood as above. Furthermore, how can one know the diseases inside the abdomen, etc., by examining the pulse? For example, just like the road of the trade market where all the people from all directions travel, there, the news from all directions is clear. Here, it is inappropriate to search for words by saying "just as one knows the weight by using a scale and a steelyard." On which road do people from all directions travel, but in this pulse, the five viscera and six bowels do not all run in that pulse, so just as various news are clear on which road.

If it is said that understanding the diseases of the viscera through pulse diagnosis is contradictory, it is not contradictory. Because the pervasive wind moves, the essence and nutrient blood of each viscera circulates throughout the pulse, just like a merchant traveling on the road. This wind and blood, like a merchant, can also know how the condition of each viscera, like land and property, has become a disease, because they are related. Even so, if it is said that because all the wind and blood circulating in the same pulse are mixed together, it is impossible to understand their respective characteristics, it is because the nature of the body's substance makes the twelve kinds of wind and blood not mix, just like the ropes (re so, Sanskrit: ) of the pockets (pad rtse, Tibetan) or bags (sgye mo, Tibetan) are sequentially unmixed. It is like arranging six colors of paint in equal proportions without mixing them sequentially in the same glass tube. Therefore, when using fingers to examine whether the wind and blood of this viscera is running in this position and that position, it is not always necessary for them to appear separately. Rather, due to the influence of factors such as disease conditions, they will appear differently, such as strong, weak, and incomplete. The different circulation of wind and blood in this way is also an inconceivable interdependence of the body. For example, just as it is said in the scriptures that tiny organisms residing in the blood can spread throughout the body in an instant. Therefore, regarding this point, some say that the twelve pulses are twisted together without mixing, etc., and there have been many debates with each other, but I do not see any essence in them. The life pulse (bla rtsa, Tibetan) runs between the Chize (chu ba, Tibetan) (acupoint name) on the inner side of the wrist and the tendons. If it appears at the location of the pulse examination, that is it. If it is not clear, press and relax up and down with your fingers, and examine the location where it is clear. At the time of death, all the pulses will contract from the ends of the body to the heart. Therefore, to determine whether the pulse of the dying person has stopped, the artery of the ankle should be examined. The reason is that the artery of the ankle stops beating before the hand pulses and others stop beating. Fourth, the degree of pressure is: the cun pulse (tshon, Tibetan) is pressed until the skin is slightly depressed, the guan pulse (kan, Tibetan) is pressed until the muscle is depressed, and the chi pulse (chag, Tibetan) is pressed until the bone is depressed, that is, the skin, muscle, and bone can feel it. It is said that the pressure on the cun pulse is equivalent to the weight of six barley grains, the guan pulse is equivalent to twelve, and the chi pulse is equivalent to twenty-four. Gradually increase the pressure in this way.
