Contradicting with location, time, art, world, reliable scriptures, and logical reasoning, these six aspects combined are called the fault of contradiction. Therefore, poets should carefully examine these ten faults in poetry and avoid them. Furthermore, if someone asks whether things like the proposition, the to-be-proven, the reason for proving it, and the lack of their examples, which are well-known in treatises on logic, are also faults, generally speaking, they are indeed faults. However, the essence of these faults falls into the category of contradicting reason. In poetry, even if various methods are used to express intentions, they may have a captivating meaning. Moreover, there are many situations that are not contradictory in essence, such as the moon causing suffering, or the effect preceding the cause, and rhetorical devices like contradiction used to deliberately show contradiction, which are not necessarily faults of essential contradiction. Therefore, for most seemingly contradictory expressions, what is the result or necessity of applying an indistinguishable analysis of contradictory categories such as proposition, proof, and example? Therefore, I will not discuss such extensive elaborations here, as it is not appropriate. If you want to understand the reasoning behind it, you should learn from treatises on logic and so on. Second, the detailed explanation has ten aspects, similar to the order of the brief explanation. First, loss of meaning refers to speech that is empty of meaning in the combination or connection of expressive words, that is, unrelated speech, which is considered a loss of meaning. If a drunkard, madman, or child says such things, that's one thing. Otherwise, the speaker will commit the fault of speaking unrelated words. An example of such meaningless speech: This person can drink the ocean, I am only afflicted by old age today. This cloud makes thunder sound loudly, the taker-away pervades, the elephant is happy with the earth protectors. The taker-away, here some consider it to be Indra. This verse simply states what happened directly, without expressing the meaning of the word combination, like the ramblings of a madman. This does not calm the mind.

of power, should be condemned, because it is the self-nature of a mind that does not abide in peace, so it should not be said, "Why speak such irrelevant words?" Otherwise, who among the poets should use such things as mentioned above? No one would use them. The example of "the language of ten apples" to illustrate irrelevant things is similar to this, referring to a verse that describes thirteen apples, six pears, animal skin, a pile of grass, and so on, all together. Second, contradiction in meaning: In language, whether it is a single verse or a stream of language containing multiple verses, when the meaning of the former is overturned by the latter, this contradiction in the meaning of the words themselves is called contradiction in meaning. For example: "May you, who destroy all the races of enemies and bear the burden of various tasks, be victorious! You who have love for all beings, you have no enemies." Here, destroying enemies is incompatible with having no love, and having love for all is incompatible with having no enemies. Especially in minds that are obviously filled with attachment, there is some opportunity for contradictory statements, so in any statement, if words with contradictory meanings are spoken, it becomes very desirable. For example, craving for another's wife is condemned by the world and the scriptures, and such behavior would hardly be appropriate for special individuals, the noble ones. But as the attached one says, "When will I be able to press my lips to hers, and drink from her mouth, which reveals her teeth and whose lips tremble?" Third, same meaning: Whether it is the meaning being expressed itself, or the words expressing it, there is no additional difference in meaning or necessity, so if what was previously expressed is emphasized again, it is considered to be the same meaning, repeated redundantly. For example: "The girls who are lustful and make others lustful, and the clouds with garlands of light, accompanied by lightning, these are the clouds that make deep sounds." Here, the words for lust and causing lust, Utka and Unman in Sanskrit, both mean losing one's mind or being infatuated, so they are the same in the sense of repeated recollection, with no different understanding. Moreover, the clouds with garlands of light, accompanied by lightning, are also clouds, making deep sounds.
