Before knowing, Seeing that nothing exists, The clinging naturally dissolves, Like gazing into the clear sky. Secondly, the method of the unmindful Heshang, By placing it unexamined in the present, Without any aspect of clear insight, It remains ordinary like a stone at the bottom of the sea. For example, saying "nothing at all," Like the Madhyamikas seeing nothing, Like believing in the "nothingness" of the formless realm, These are only similar in words, But in meaning, they are as different as heaven and earth. Thus, for those free from the four extremes of elaboration, If you do not cling to any of the four extremes, A clinging that transcends the four extremes, You wish to be without clinging by means of non-existence. If someone says "there is no clinging," Some fools from the very beginning, Relax without clinging to anything. All beings, because of excessive ordinary relaxation, Constantly wander in the three realms of samsara, There is no need to read and urge again. If they do not know this, But say that we have recognized our own nature, To recognize the ultimate nature, It is necessary to have a thorough determination of true emptiness. The illusion appears as "self and other," Who knows it, what need is there for meditation? If, when examining the mind for color, shape, And the place of origin and destination, If you say that you realize emptiness by not seeing it, This is a very profound Dharma principle. However, there is also a great mistake here. The mind is not a material object, Therefore, no one can see colors, etc. Merely by not seeing it, you think it is emptiness, If you think you have realized it, you are greatly mistaken. Even if you search a hundred times, on a human head, You cannot see the horns of a cow. Because you do not see it, you think it is empty, If you think so, it is easy for everyone. Therefore, with that rational examination, If you can see a little bit of the true nature, You will know that this mind is like an illusion, Its nature is unreal, known from the root. At that time, like looking directly at the sky, Likewise, for your own mind, Even its movement is emptiness, You must have unwavering certainty. Or again, is your mind, Like the sky, empty and devoid of anything? What is the various awareness that you speak of? The mind that does not stay for a moment, the moving mind, Since everyone has it, the object of awareness, That it abides is what everyone definitely says. Then, the mind that is neither existent nor non-existent, You say is the clear light Dharmakaya. That also has the arrogance of realization, Although you have not heard much, You also think that knowing one is liberating everything. The non-existence and non-non-existence of Dzogchen, Is that which is free from the elaborations of the four extremes. Your this

If you examine it carefully, you cannot say it exists, and you cannot say it does not exist. Is it ultimately both existence and non-existence? Or is it neither of the two? Without exceeding any of these possibilities, the mind clings to the basis of existence and non-existence, neither existence nor non-existence. That is the inconceivable self-nature, and it and the various ways of naming it, in meaning, there is no difference in what is desired. The mind and other dharmas besides it, all are based on the certainty of no truth, appearance arises as dependent origination, transcending the thought and speech of yes and no, it is the key to being free from the four extremes of elaboration, it is the unattached, empty, natural arising. This is called being free from yes and no, it abides like a target in front of the mind. Relying on the clinging to self and other as real, the river of samsara flows continuously. The antidote to these is the clinging to no-self. However, if you do not understand the way of non-existence, it is useless to merely believe in non-existence. Just like mistaking a rope for a snake, thinking there is no snake is useless, but if you see the way of non-existence, it is like discarding the snake. Therefore, understand through analysis, do not just stop at analysis, because the clinging to reality since beginningless time has become very habitual, so repeatedly practice with the way of clinging. By becoming accustomed to no-self, in order to uproot the view of self from the root, it is necessary to do this. Many who have seen the real meaning diligently exhort. For beginners, this is the gateway to enter, if there is no mistake, this is the right path. If you abandon it from the beginning, that is the secret mantra spread by the devil. When this clinging leads to a firm belief in true emptiness, merely clinging to non-existence is not the ultimate reality, so practice the great emptiness that is free from all elaboration, free from the two graspers. After thoroughly determining true emptiness, emptiness arises as dependent origination, do not cling to anything that appears empty, just like pure gold refined from fire, it can be completely trusted. Otherwise, this is a very profound key, it is the meaning that the great scholars and accomplished ones of India and Tibet have realized after long efforts. Alas, foolish people say they have realized it in an instant, I doubt this. The main practice is, all of appearance and existence, samsara and nirvana, are the self-nature of the meaning that transcends existence and non-existence. If existence and non-existence do not establish anything, then clinging to any one side is elaboration. Therefore, when analyzing with reason, because nothing is seen to be established, how can clinging to anything arise? However, the four extremes
