Experiencing unwillingly, and seeing mandalas of lamps etc. due to delusion, past etc., like memory, based on the absence of an object, two modes are established in the mind. From that experience, later, remembering the respective parts of such an object and subject, two modes can also be established, it is said. From the time of past experience, later, remembering the mind with aspects can also be established. How is it remembered? When remembering the mind of blue grasping, yellow grasping, etc., it is because the object is remembered as having that aspect. Moreover, if the mind that previously experienced blue etc. does not have the aspect of blue etc., it cannot be remembered, just as when remembering seeing a conch, black is not remembered. If that is the case, the individual consciousnesses cannot be distinguished, because they are merely consciousness, without difference. The grasping aspect also exists, because when cognizing the first, second, etc. consciousnesses, it is remembered or cognized as having a difference that is increased by one aspect. Therefore, memory also establishes two modes, because if it has not been experienced, there is no root, so memory is unreasonable. Object appearance and consciousness appearance are remembered separately, if they are one, then there would be no difference between remembering the object and remembering the consciousness, because there is memory. If there is no blue appearance and blue grasping on the mind, then there would be no difference between remembering blue and remembering blue grasping, but it is not so, because each apprehended aspect has an increasing difference. It is said. If these two do not exist, then the first consciousness appears as non-different from the object, and the later consciousnesses are not remembered as having an object. That is, if there is only grasping, and the apprehended aspect is different, then there is no difference between the first consciousness and the blue appearance. If the apprehended aspect and the grasping aspect are not different, then the later consciousnesses will be separated from the object. Thus, in reality, two modes are established, and self-awareness will also be established, because the establishment of two modes and self-awareness is the same, or without difference, because when one is established, it is not known that the other is not established. This is a word that summarizes into one. The reason for this is that, generally, even if the two modes already exist in different states, like a pillar and a vase, these two minds are not other substances, but in the manner of being one essence, if one does not experience the other, there will be no remembering one as having the aspect of the other, just as when remembering a pillar, a vase is not remembered. The reason is that if the mind itself does not experience itself, there will be no remembering with aspects. There is no fault.

If it is said that others have experienced wisdom besides oneself, then it will become infinite, because experiencing wisdom also requires memory to witness it. If, like before, others have also experienced it, then wisdom will only be limited to the inner consciousness, and transfer to other external things. If it does not exist, then transferring to the outside is also visible, so this is unreasonable. The so-called debate and argumentation are not the views of the great scholar Vasubandhu himself. The reason is that the great scholar thought that it had no practical significance, so he did not make it his own view. If it is used as a basis, then it will be said to be a part of it. The method of debate and argumentation is just a mixture of various reasoning methods, so it is not one's own view. If it is one's own view, then it is only a part, that is, it can only be said to be one aspect of it, but this is not the case. Therefore, we should examine whether what he said there is reasonable. Among them, in order to impose names through debate and argumentation, the consciousness that arises directly from that thing itself is direct perception. If "that thing" refers to all conditions, then direct perception does not arise only from that condition as the object-condition, because consciousness arises from four conditions. Even so, it cannot be understood only as direct perception arising from things, because all minds and mental factors arise from all conditions respectively. Although the debater does not accept it, this is usually a conclusion. If it is said that the object of naming refers to the object-condition, then there is no error. However, this also applies to all things, because the scriptures say that "the object is all dharmas." If it is said that "thing" only refers to the object-condition, then remembering the manifested things, wanting to eat sweet tastes, and inferring fire, etc., are also the same. Consciousness will also make such mistakes, because consciousness does not depend on making its own object as the object-condition. In addition, the debater also said: "The consciousness arising from that thing is direct perception." Does this refer to the consciousness that arises in accordance with that thing, or does it count even if it does not conform, but only acts as a cause? If it is the former, it is impossible, because the coarse appearance that appears in the root consciousness is not the real thing. Because it is conventional truth, in ultimate truth, there is no object of consciousness, that is, the five objects such as form. Moment and dust
