翻译时梵藏双语对照:Pramāṇa(梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)量,Samuccaya(梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)总集,Nāma(梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)名为,Prakaraṇa(梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)论。

A Commentary on the Compendium on Valid Cognition: A Luminary Illuminating the Path of Reasoning A Commentary on the Compendium on Valid Cognition: A Luminary Illuminating the Path of Reasoning This is the treatise called "A Commentary on the Compendium on Valid Cognition: A Luminary Illuminating the Path of Reasoning." Namo Guru Manjushriye. (Tibetan) Homage to the Guru Manjushri! (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) With the splendor of the excellent wisdom sword ablaze, cutting through the net of doubt for all beings, embodiment of wisdom of all the Buddhas, Gentle Voice, may you always dance in the lotus of faith in my heart. Here, I will explain the treatise "Compendium on Valid Cognition" composed by the glorious ornament of Jambudvipa, the teacher Dignāga. First, the title is mentioned: In Sanskrit: Pramāṇasamuccayanāmaprakaraṇa. (Sanskrit Devanagari, Pramāṇasamuccaya nāma prakaraṇa, Sanskrit Romanization, Compendium on Valid Cognition, Name, Treatise, Chinese literal meaning) In Tibetan: The Treatise Called "Compendium on Valid Cognition." In the translation, the Sanskrit and Tibetan are compared: Pramāṇa (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) Valid Cognition, Samuccaya (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) Compendium, Nāma (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) Called, Prakaraṇa (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) Treatise. That is, the treatise that takes correct knowledge and its related content as its subject matter, and compiles all the treatises of the system of valid cognition itself. The colophon of the translation is: Homage to the Buddha! (Tibetan) This was written by the translator. The actual content of the treatise is: I pay homage to that which arises from the power of the non-deceptive valid cognition, who wishes to benefit all beings by liberating them from suffering, thus showing the method, peacefully gone to the state of perfect abandonment and realization, and who permanently protects all beings. In order to unerringly establish or prove the correct valid cognition of our own Buddhist school, from all the previously written scattered works, such as the Gate of Reasoning, Investigation of Reasoning, Investigation of Objects, etc., I will compile the essential points and gather the various scattered contents here into one treatise. Among these, there are only two valid cognitions: perception and inference. The reason for this is that the two characteristics of generality and particularity, through the mixture and non-mixture of place, time, and manner, are the direct objects of measurement for these two valid cognitions. That is to say, when valid cognition measures the self-characteristic of the object it engages with, if the object is manifest, it measures it directly; if the object is hidden, it must rely on its generality to measure it. Therefore, there are two objects of measurement, and only two, because objects are determined to be either manifest or hidden. The generality of color

Therefore, inference is the only valid cognition for universally combining impermanence. Others are not. Hair and other things do not exist in essence, so they are not self-characteristics, and because there is no attachment, they are not universals either. So, if it is inferred that it is the third object because of its clear appearance, it is because hair does not exist externally, so it is the clear appearance of non-existence. The knowledge of clear appearance is a self-characteristic. The appearance of its universal is a universal characteristic. Furthermore, from signs such as being made or from certainty, the perception that color is impermanent is a mixture of self and universal characteristics, so is another valid cognition needed to measure it? No, because a single object of measurement is repeatedly known by multiple valid cognitions, it is not the third valid cognition either. If it were, valid cognitions would be endless, just as memory and desire, hatred, etc., are not the third valid cognition. To recognize things by combining their own names with the things themselves, and to combine categories, functions, qualities, etc., with things, such as mixing a cow with the category of cow, or a white cow, etc. That which is separated from conceptual thought is direct perception. Among them, being free from conceptual thought and not mistaken is the characteristic of valid direct perception. Among them, what is the conceptual thought to be separated? It is the mind and mental factors of the three realms of self-nature, and coarse and subtle speculation, etc., but not the knowledge that mixes sound and meaning, or the knowledge that perceives things that are compatible with sound. How is it? It is not that things themselves are similar to names, nor is it the mixture of things combined with things to recognize categories, etc., but that things are scattered and not mixed, just as each part presents a different appearance, the sense consciousness that is merely an appearance and cannot be expressed in words is merely free from conceptual thought. Of the two, object and sense faculty, the sense faculty is the non-common cause of the five consciousnesses. The five consciousnesses of the five doors are understood through the name of the sense faculty, so they are called sense consciousnesses, just like the sound of a drum and a sprout from the ground. The sense consciousness needs to be generated by many subtle particles with special properties as its own object of apprehension. Knowledge itself is the object, or the collection or accumulation of its own objects, is the object of the universal, not an independent individual, nor a dependent coarse appearance. Like things that are made and impermanent, etc., which have the nature of many contradictions, such as sound. It is impossible to recognize multiple self-natures like the sense faculty, because in the part that is different from all that is not itself, or in the indivisible part, it appears as one without many.
