If it is thought that self-nature exists, although the entity has no faults, it is not thought to be so. It is said that it must be determined to be only the similar. It is unreasonable to think so, because for the dissimilar of sound permanence, such as a vase, it is impossible not to have permanence itself. Because there are many things that are not permanent in it, and there are also many things that are permanent. The meaning of the self-explanation is: even a single sign will not appear if there are not many forms. For example, action itself is related to impermanence and selflessness, etc., and will not appear if these forms do not exist. Therefore, all three determinations are flawed. If it is said that in the absence of the similar, the reason is shown by the nature of the absence, then stating the reason cannot establish what is to be proven. If it can be established, it should also be shown as it is, and if it is not explained in what way the absence is established where the proof is to be established, it is unreasonable. Therefore, such words are like being unable to understand what is to be proven, and such a reason is not seen as a true proof. Even if the past can be seen, then the sound of stating the object of sight, etc., will also become a sign of understanding impermanence. If someone says that not showing the absence will not be a sign, then if it is said, if it is not explained how it is absent and where it is absent, it cannot be understood. Because the sign and the dharma exist together, the similar dharma alone can understand what is to be proven. If it is thought that the reason that cannot show the absence similar to the proof is not a correct reason, it is not so, because it can be understood through two examples of similar and dissimilar relations. Impermanence, etc., have already appeared in the example, so what do other disputants want to say? Those with theories say: In the case of the same dharma as what is to be proven, the established example is the reason for proving what is to be proven. For this, if merely showing the example of the similar is the proof, then the words with five parts are not the proof, and the fifth part is not shown by the source. Merely showing the example can establish the meaning, so what is the use of other parts such as the oath? If it is said that all other parts have the same function, it is not so, because the meaning of the proof does not exist elsewhere. From the similar, the five sounds are unreasonable, because the example itself has shown it.

If it is an argument, then it is an argument, because it cannot become an example and another separate example. By the word "karma," it is shown that there is no separate argument in the example, or it shows the example of the argument. If saying "an example that conforms to the Dharma" refers to conforming to the kind of thing being said, then the word "karma" refers to "non-kind." If from things that conform to the Dharma, inference arises through the language of expressing the example, is it reasonable to state the source? If so, then from things that conform to the Dharma, things like cutting off the desires of others also arise, so that should also be included. If it is said that desires, etc., do not belong to the argument, then does "argument" refer to directly generating inference, or indirectly? The first case is unreasonable, because for the refuter, the memory of connection in the listener's continuum itself becomes the reason. If according to the second case, then the auditory cognition of the refuter hearing the words of argument should also be included. It is necessary to treat "word" as a special case. If it is said that desires, etc., are not themselves arguments, therefore not reasons, then whether "argument" is direct or indirect, other faults will arise. If it is said that what is established indirectly is the reason, but auditory cognition is not included, because the reason for expressing things that conform to the Dharma is not auditory cognition, then that is also not right, because for the example itself, there are also the two faults of direct or indirect argumentation. For things temporarily made into a thesis, it is always a thesis, and other situations are impossible, because examples, etc., are harmed by their respective characteristics. If it is said that everything is not a reason, then it is impossible to think that distinctions exist, because existence harms it. Therefore, "showing a conforming example" will become the sixth, and for it, the specificity of making one of the five into a reason will become meaningless. If it is said that other than this special thing, all the other five languages are not considered reasons, then, make what you want into a reason and make it special, what is the point of pretending to be everything? If other languages are considered arguments, then there is no need to add, because their respective true essences are not meant to transcend sound. If all five limbs are arguments, then the names of the five limbs are only general, and it is impossible for there to be a special case that is both yes and no. Special cases have names.
