Whoever wishes to uphold this Dharma category, in order to hear this Dharma category, must transcend the trichiliocosm filled entirely with fire and listen to this Dharma category. Having heard it, one should also rejoice from the depths of one's heart with an undeteriorating continuum. In order to uphold this Dharma category, to fully understand it, to retain it, to write it down, and to practice it, one must exert great diligence. Even for the brief time it takes to put on a single robe, one should also proclaim it to others. Even having transcended the trichiliocosm filled entirely with fire, one should not generate even a single thought of regret. Why is that? Maitreya said thus: Countless billions of bodhisattvas, having heard such a vast Dharma category, therefore do not regress from unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Thus it was proclaimed. If one hears such a Dharma category, those who have not accumulated merit will not believe in it. Those who have wrong views about the meaning of what has been said are like non-Buddhist heretics. Although for them, mere scriptural authority is not enough to be a standard, in order to lead them into the meaning of the true scriptural authority, they should be tamed by skillful means, or tamed by reason, and gradually introduced into this teaching by means of miracles, etc., or by means of true reasoning, the teacher should be established as a reliable person, and the teaching should be placed at the entrance to liberation. In particular, one should generate certainty about the Buddha's aspirations and the inconceivable nature of wisdom, and through the scriptural authority purified by the three examinations, such as the Sutra on the Adornment of the Pure Land of Sukhavati, one must also generate faith in the pure scriptural authority that is extremely hidden in what it measures and does not deceive. If those who claim to be proficient in this Dharma, due to their attachment to inferiority, hear of the vast qualities of the pure land and doubt, thinking that only noble ones can be born in such a land, and that ordinary people like us cannot be born there by reciting the Buddha's name, etc., then one should know that they have fallen away from great benefit.

The reason is that even ordinary people can be reborn in this pure land through the power of faith and aspiration, which can be understood through scriptures. As it is said, "When reborn in the third place, one who receives the treatises is of noble lineage." Like this extremely hidden object of measurement, only by relying on the infallible scriptures can one enter the path of great meaning, which is the tradition of the noble ones. Therefore, the qualities of the vessel and its contents of this pure land are also extremely vast. Those who desire to be reborn in that pure land after hearing the name of the Blissful One, Immeasurable Light, will surely be reborn there. This is because in the past, in the presence of the Blissful One, King of the World, a monk named Dharma Arising completely upheld the complete adornment of eighty-one kotis of hundreds of thousands of countless Buddha lands, and even more excellent pure lands than those. In order to fulfill those great aspirations, he thoroughly studied immeasurable Bodhisattva practices. Now, having completely fulfilled the aspirations made in the past, he has become a Buddha in the pure land called Sukhavati, abiding and teaching the Dharma. Therefore, by the power of that Buddha's aspiration, it is easy to be reborn in that pure land, and it is of great significance after being reborn, and it should be understood in this way. The sutra says, "Bhagavan, if when I attain Bodhi, in countless immeasurable Buddha lands, any sentient beings who hear my name, and with the intention of being reborn in that Buddha land, generate the mind and also dedicate all roots of virtue without interruption, except for those sentient beings who are obscured by the obscuration of abandoning the true Dharma, until those sentient beings, even with ten transformations of the generation of the mind, have not been reborn in that Buddha land, I will not attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment." And so on, and the four causes mentioned above, etc., should be ascertained through the scriptures. To this, some may think that this pure land is even more excellent than other pure lands, and all sentient beings reborn in that pure land possess immeasurable qualities such as dharani, samadhi, and clairvoyance.
