Just as intermediate and inferior Bodhisattvas are born as gods and see the truth. Third, patience also has four aspects in total: advising to abandon the cause—anger; abandoning the result—resentment; incidentally discussing the difference of the basic mind; and abandoning the cause of anger—harsh words. First, like this, there is no ascetic practice more excellent than patience. Therefore, you should not give anger a chance from the beginning. By abandoning anger, one will obtain the irreversible result, which is promised by the Buddha himself. Monks, like this, abandon anger! You will become the bearers of irreversibility. Thus it is said. Second, I was verbally abused by that person in person, slandered by him in secret, maliciously injured by him with faults, and defeated by him with violence. This person stole my property, etc. If one harbors past resentment, it will give rise to conflicts of body and speech. If one completely abandons resentment, one will be free from the pain in the heart and sleep peacefully. Third, the nature of sentient beings' minds is like drawing on water, earth, and stone. One should know the differences between instability, stability, and extreme stability. Among them, for the afflicted mind, the first is like drawing on water. For virtuous minds that want to enter the Dharma, the last is like drawing on stone, and being unchanging is the most excellent. Fourth, the Victorious One teaches that harmonious speech touches the heart and truthfully speaks the truth; or because of disharmony or ignorance, one lies. The words of people with these characteristics are divided into three types in order: words like honey, words like flowers, and words like impure things. Thus, it is taught in three ways, and the last one must be abandoned. Fourth, diligence. It is divided into the basis of diligence and the advice to practice diligence that is in accordance with mindfulness and action. First, from light to the end of light, that is, happiness in this life and happiness in the next life; from darkness to the end of darkness, that is, suffering in this life and going to a place of suffering in the next life; from light to the end of darkness, that is, happiness in this life and suffering in the next life; from darkness to the end of light, that is, suffering in this life and happiness in the next life.

There are four types of individuals who go to (Nirvana). Among them, first, may you proceed from ease to ease. Second, people are like mangoes, having four possibilities of being ripe or unripe inside and out. That is, the inside is unripe, but from the outside, it looks ripe; the inside is ripe, but the outside looks unripe; the inside is unripe, and the outside also appears unripe; and the inside is ripe, and the outside also appears ripe. You should understand or realize it to be like this. Fifth, regarding meditation, there are three: preparation, main practice, and subsequent activity. The first has two: abandoning distractions that are unfavorable, and accomplishing the four immeasurables that are favorable. The first is divided into four: distraction by objects, distraction by the eight worldly concerns, distraction by wealth, and distraction by enjoyment. The first is further divided into two: completely restraining the senses by transforming inner perceptions, and abandoning attachment by understanding the nature of objects. The first of these also has four points: advising to guard the senses from other people's wives, advising to guard the senses from other desires, the faults of not guarding the senses, and praising the ability to guard the senses. The first point is: do not intentionally look at other people's wives, but even if you see them naturally, if they are of similar age, generate the perception of a mother if they are older than you, a daughter if they are younger, and a sister if they are the same age. Do not generate attachment, and if you do generate attachment, you should truly contemplate that their bodies are impure. Second, the mind that moves without staying for even a moment should be guarded like guarding listening, and similarly, it should be guarded like a child, like a treasure, and like life. Regarding listening, if you do not carefully listen to what is being heard at the time of listening, because you do not hear the meaning of the distracted words, you should not let the mind be distracted by the continuous stream of sounds, but should listen continuously. Just as a mother always worries that her beloved young child will fall off a cliff and always watches over him with mindfulness; just as she guards a great treasure day and night, fearing that it will be stolen by thieves; just as she always cherishes her own life and guards it, you should understand it like understanding all these examples. Having placed mindfulness to watch over that mind, what should you guard it from? You should guard it like guarding a poisonous snake, like guarding poison, sharp weapons, abysses, enemies, and burning flames.
