If it is famous by reputation or by reason, it is established through either of these two ways. Furthermore, the difference between these two kinds of fame is explained as follows: things like pillars and vases, which are famous merely by applying terms that follow conventions, are called worldly fame. If those who are skilled in the meaning of reason establish a certain thing through the three valid cognitions of direct perception, inference, and scripture, or through the three reasons of function, dependence, and nature, and are thus famous, then it is called the fame of reason. For example, the fact that something that serves the purpose of support is named a pillar is worldly fame; and the fact that a pillar is emptiness is famous by reason. Through which of these two kinds of fame are the three natures, which are the subject of discussion, famous and established? Worldly fame is established solely from the aspect of the completely imputed, and in the world, various names are given to things according to how they appear. The dependent and the thoroughly established are famous by reason through the three valid cognitions. Alternatively, worldly fame is established only from the completely imputed, while fame in treatises can be established on all three natures as appropriate. The various establishments of these through direct perception and so on, which are famous from treatises, are those. Fifth, it is shown by pure object of experience and so on: There are two divisions in explaining the object of experience of pure wisdom: the object of experience of wisdom that is purified of afflictive obscurations and the object of experience of wisdom that is purified of cognitive obscurations. Such an object of pure wisdom is not the completely imputed or the dependent, but only the thoroughly established, because when it is made the object of experience, existence and appearance are in accordance. Sixth, it is shown by cause and aspect and so on: The summary of the meaning of all the Great Vehicle is taught as five things or five dharmas, namely: name, sign, conceptual thought, correct wisdom, and suchness. Among these, name refers to things like pillars and vases, which are merely named through convention. Sign refers to the basis of designation of the name, having the function of support and so on, and a bulging belly.

It is like appearing as a rainbow, etc. Discrimination is the eight aggregates of consciousness. True wisdom is that which has suchness as its object, and suchness is the dharmadhatu, the object of the path. These five such dharmas are also included within the three natures. Which three? The three, namely, cause, discrimination, and name, should be categorized into the two, other-powered and completely imputed. The consciousness with the nature of the eight aggregates, and in the appearance with dualistic appearances, the two that are the basis or cause for naming and designating various different things that appear are included in the other-powered nature. Name is included by the completely imputed. True wisdom and the two suchnesses that are the most excellent and true among all dharmas are included only by the perfectly established, just as the two perfectly established, object and object-possessor, were explained above. Seventh, it is shown by "entering into that alone," etc. That is, as it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras, "Suchness relies on seven, and establishes the distinctions of truth." Therefore, the suchness of entering, the dependent arising of 1 interdependent origination, the impure and pure other-powered nature, and the suchness of the aspect 2, the three natures of no self-nature, namely, the completely imputed characteristic of no self-nature, the other-powered arising of no self-nature, and the perfectly established ultimate of no self-nature. The suchness of representation, the consciousness-only suchness 3, the eight aggregates of consciousness, the suchness of abiding 4, the state of the suffering truth that possesses the four characteristics of impermanence, etc., the suchness of wrong practice 5, the truth of the cause of arising that possesses the four aspects of arising, etc., the suchness of complete purity 6, the four dharmas of cessation, peace, etc., and the truth of cessation, and the suchness of truly accomplishing 7, the truth of the path that possesses the four aspects of the path, reason, practice, and liberation, these seven are called the seven suchnesses. Furthermore, according to the Sutra and the Middle Extremes, entering is the continuous entering of samsara without beginning or end, characteristic is the two selflessnesses, consciousness-only is the understanding that all phenomena are only consciousness, and the remaining four are explained in conjunction with the four truths.

As mentioned before. Among them, the way to distinguish the seven suchnesses from the three self-natures is: The entering suchness is distinguished from the two types of parikalpita and paratantra. Because one clings to the parikalpita as true and enters samsara with the impure nature of paratantra. The establishment of abiding and returning, or the two of falling into evil destinies, are also distinguished from the two of parikalpita and paratantra in the same way. These causes and effects of samsara are also clinging to the parikalpita as real, and then entering with paratantra, as mentioned above. The four of nature, Vijnaptimatra, utmost purity, and true establishment are all included in the parinispanna, so it should be understood that they are distinguished into four from it. The meaning of selflessness of nature and the two of utmost purity cessation are the unchanging parinispanna. Knowing that all dharmas are only consciousness, and the two paths of true establishment, are for entering the meaning of reality without inversion, so it is the distinction of non-inverted parinispanna. Eighth, explaining the suchness of the wise, divided into explaining the ten views of self to be abandoned, and explaining the ten places to be mastered by the abandoner. First, indicated by "one" and "cause" etc., if these ten places to be mastered are determined, then all knowable things are included in them. And, by the power of mastering the nature of these ten places, it will also be achieved incidentally to abandon the ten different forms of self-view. So, what are the ten places to be mastered? That is, mastering the skandhas, mastering the dhatus, mastering the ayatanas, mastering the dependent origination, mastering the possible and impossible, mastering the indriyas, mastering the time, mastering the truths, mastering the yana, and mastering the conditioned and unconditioned. Among them, the ten self-views are clinging to the self as the only one, clinging to the self as the cause, and so on. That is to say, by mastering the skandhas, one can abandon clinging to the self as the only one. The reason is that the basis of the establishment of the self is only these five skandhas, and there is nothing among them that is established alone and indivisibly, because the five skandhas can be distinguished, and each skandha also has many internal differences. Therefore, after understanding the way of establishing the skandhas by gathering and piling up many dharmas, it will be understood that there is no such thing as a so-called "self".
