If it is thought to be as established, then, the container world and so on appear as common, from that, what is the other uncommon object of apprehension that becomes the meaning or object of discriminating or knowing? Knowing the minds and mental factors of other sentient beings' continuums, although one can know how the minds of others have changed through the power of mantras and meditations, for the discriminating awareness of grasping at the time of not being in equipoise and being in equipoise, minds of different continuums do not actually become objects for each other. How is it? For those who are not in equipoise, it is because their own conceptualizations appear as images similar to the minds of others; for those who are in equipoise, it is like the image of knowing the past and future in the realm of that samadhi, only the image of the minds of others, that is, an image similar to it, appears clearly. Therefore, the way the mind arises in the image of focusing on an object, and the nature of experiencing the mind itself as one with the object, these two ways of knowing objects are different. Although yogis know the happiness and suffering of ordinary minds by way of focusing, they do not become the same as that experience. Then, just as with the minds of others, if external objects are also not actually experienced, but are experienced by the appearance of images, what harm would there be? If the power of the awakening of inner imprints, which makes knowledge itself appear as if it were the meaning, does not exist, then even if external objects exist, they will not appear, just as ghosts see water and infinite space sees form. If the inner imprints awaken clearly, then there is no need for external objects to exist independently, just as ghosts see pus and infinite space sees the appearance of space pervading everywhere. Therefore, all appearances arise from the power of the mind, and the mind does not arise from the power of appearances. Similarly, other continuums do not arise from the power of the minds of others, because one cannot accept that if one person is liberated from suffering, everyone will change in the same way. Then, for the Buddha, since all phenomena have become manifest, whatever appears to him, if that becomes one with his wisdom, will the mind streams of the Buddha and sentient beings become one? The Buddha does not have the concept of self and sentient beings as different streams, because of the nature of reality.

Since it is the fully accomplished wisdom that abides as it is, it and all phenomena cannot be measured in terms of being one or different, etc. As it is said, "Unborn and unceasing, the nature of phenomena is the same as nirvana." Secondly, since what appears as the object of grasping is established as nothing other than grasping by its own nature, then what appears as the grasper is also established as non-existent. Why is that? Because the grasper is established in dependence on the object of grasping, and can never be established independently. Thus, the knowledge that is free from all aspects of both the object of grasping and the grasper, the self-luminous nature of knowledge that is without object and subject, the inexpressible, is none other than the perfect reality that is empty of the two selves, and is no different from suchness. Even the Mind-Only school must realize this, let alone the Middle Way school. According to the Mind-Only school, its nature is complete with the meaning of the sixteen emptinesses, and phenomena such as outer and inner, object of grasping and grasper, are not to be thought of or spoken of in any way, and therefore it is considered to be free from elaboration. However, if the subtle difference of establishing the inexpressible knowledge as truly established in its own nature remains, and it is refuted by reasoning, and it is considered that the knowledge itself that is without object of grasping and grasper is also united with emptiness that is without truth, and that the self-luminous nature of one's own mind that is pure from the beginning is the true Middle Way. Therefore, these two, the Great Vehicle Middle Way and Mind-Only, differ only in whether or not a subtle key point of clinging is cut off. The practice of meditation and post-meditation is similar, so the great Indian scholars and masters also considered these two to be no different when practicing the Great Vehicle, and that is why. Knowing the way in which the object of grasping and the grasper are non-dual, as explained above, it is even more important to abide single-pointedly on that meaning, from which it is established that one enters directly into the non-existence of what appears as the object of grasping and the grasper, and thus the non-dual nature of phenomena will be seen. If it is thought that such a non-dual nature of phenomena is either perfectly established from the beginning, or exists but does not appear, and instead the illusion of appearing as two arises, this is not reasonable. There is nothing unreasonable about that, because the habitual tendencies of the appearance of the object of grasping and the grasper that have come down from beginningless time obscure that one suchness.
