Because it is not established in its own nature, for those who awaken with similar habitual tendencies, the consciousness that can perceive appears as the external object and its form. For example, like the appearance in a dream. Therefore, there is no external object other than consciousness. Like this, the so-called common object of perception is also merely a common appearance to many sentient beings of different lineages, so it can be established as not different from the clinging of each lineage. What is the reason for this? Because the common object of perception, which is presented as the argument for establishing the external object, is merely a similar way of appearing in the share of each lineage. aTo establish it as a common external object, those that appear in the lineage are the appearances of their respective lineages, and there can never be a common one. Apart from the appearance, the so-called common external object, this is it, cannot be pointed out with reason, because the existence of that object must be determined from what appears in the mind. If it does not appear, there is no measure, so it should not be determined. Therefore, if we carefully examine this so-called common object of perception, if the reason for establishing it as common is that the appearances of each lineage are similar, then even if the appearances are similar, it is not necessary to establish a common external object. Just as for those whose eyes are deceived by illusion mantras, the same appearance appears. For those who awaken with similar habitual tendencies, although the dwelling and so on appear to be the same as long as the power of that habitual tendency is not exhausted, the reason for appearing the same is not truly established in the external object. Just as for the same water, due to different karmic appearances, the perceptions of the six types of beings are different, so it should be understood that this is merely the self-appearance of one's own inner mind. Second, although no one can deny that all appearances are appearances in the mind, this does not establish that all appearances are the same entity as the mind, and that the creator of the appearance bdoes not exist externally. For example, although there is the existence of others knowing the minds of others directly, this does not establish, like an external object, that there is no mind of another lineage, and that the appearance of the mind of another is the same entity as one's own mind.
