Two aspects. First, what are they? They are the nature of faith, diligence, mindfulness, wisdom, samadhi, equanimity, joy, realization, discipline, and extreme pliancy, these ten. Second, the essence of the four mindfulnesses is wisdom; for diligence, it is the correct abandonment, called the four right exertions. The four legs of miraculous power are samadhi. Moreover, the wisdom of power and, among the eight noble paths, right view, and among the seven branches of enlightenment, discrimination of dharma, these two are wisdom. In the context of power, nobility, and enlightenment, samadhi, etc., are referred to by their own names as such. The three verbal livelihoods are discipline. If discipline is considered as abandoning the mind, it is one entity; if, according to the Sarvastivadins, it is considered as the actions of body and speech, then the branches of discipline are different entities, totaling eleven. Third, showing that these are placed on the path mainly because of the primary reason. Mindfulness is wisdom, the four right abandonments are diligence, the four legs of miraculous power are samadhi. It is said that wisdom, etc., are mainly mentioned on that path, but those, along with their retinue, except for the innate qualities such as faith, etc., the qualities arising from practice, the contaminated and uncontaminated arising from hearing, thinking, and meditating, and joy, extreme pliancy, pliancy, equanimity, right realization, faith, mindfulness, discipline, etc., are all mindfulness, etc., but not only the main ones. Second, in terms of differences. The difference of which stage to place them in, the difference between contaminated and uncontaminated, and the examination of which ground they exist on, these three. First, the seven categories of mindfulness, etc., are because they are the main ones at that time, so in order, the activity is the first, in the path of accumulation, etc., are the four mindfulnesses, in the stage of heat of the decisive part are the four right abandonments, in the peak are the four legs of miraculous power, in forbearance are the five faculties, in the highest worldly dharma are the powers, in the path of meditation are the seven branches of enlightenment, and in the path of seeing are the eight noble paths, this is completely distinguished. Second, the seven branches of enlightenment and the eight branches of the noble path are uncontaminated, while the others have both contaminated and uncontaminated aspects. Those existing in the continuum of ordinary beings, encompassed by the path of application, are contaminated, and those existing in the continuum of noble beings are the three paths.

Those that are encompassed are without outflows, hence. Third, in the first dhyana, all thirty-seven are present, but if powerless, it is with equanimity, so there are thirty-six except for joy, easily attained, and without doubt, it will turn into joy, from the initial approximation, it must be generated through effort, fearing falling to a lower ground, and because it is equanimity. The second dhyana has thirty-six except for investigation and analysis, because investigation and analysis have already been abandoned by the second dhyana. In the latter two dhyanas, there are thirty-five except for those two, joy and investigation, the actual practice of the first dhyana is merely, and in the intermediate of the second and the special actual practice of the first, there are also thirty-five except for joy and investigation, in the first three formless realms as well. There are thirty-two except for those two, joy and investigation, and the three branches of discipline. The seven branches of enlightenment
