Explanation of the Path and the Individual Explanation of the Path and the Individual ༈ Secondly, in the aspect of what should be taken, the purification, there are two explanations: the causal path, the truth, and the resultant wisdom. The first part is divided into two aspects: location and name. The first aspect includes: the object of focus, the noble truths; the order of realizing the truths; the individual who abides in the realization of the truths; and the nature of the path of realization, etc., in four parts. The first part includes: showing the nature of the path with an object by way of connection, and actually explaining the object, the truth, in two parts. First, seeing the truth directly, and abandoning all afflictions from meditating on the meaning of what is seen. As it is said, the path of meditation has two aspects: contaminated and uncontaminated. Worldly meditation, the contaminated samadhi, increases contamination; transcendental meditation, with the aspect of truth, practicing the meaning of seeing the truth, does not increase contamination. The path called the path of seeing is solely uncontaminated. The second part is divided into three aspects: general, specific, and incidental. The first part is divided into three aspects: exposition, explanation, and order. First, the truths to be seen and practiced are also explained as four in the sutras and treatises. Second, what are the four? They are the truth of suffering, the truth of the origin of suffering, the truth of the cessation of suffering, and the truth of the noble path. Thus, "thus" indicates that the nature of the four truths is as stated in the first location here, according to the commentary. Third, as just explained, how are these truths initially shown in the order of realization? That is, how the path of seeing arises in the continuum, as stated in the Uttaratantra: Like a disease should be known, the cause of the disease should be abandoned, happiness should be attained, and medicine should be taken. Suffering, its cause, its cessation, and the path are likewise to be known, abandoned, realized, and cultivated. It is certain that in the path of seeing, the clear appearance also arises in the same way in the accumulation and application stages. Why is it called the noble truth? Because impermanence, suffering, etc., are true in the eyes of the noble ones, but not so in the eyes of children, but are seen as reversed. Therefore, here, the part of the contaminated result is the truth of suffering, the part of the cause is the truth of origin, the truth of cessation is the non-composite cessation by discrimination, and the path is the uncontaminated composite seeing and meditation.

There are three paths of non-learners. Suffering and everything else are from the perspective of the names of cause and effect, so there is no difference in substance. But in cessation and path, there is also substance. Thus it is said. Therefore, it is said that the first two are coextensive. Second, the detailed explanation of the truth of suffering is: If suffering is one aspect of the feeling aggregate, then how can all contaminated things be the truth of suffering? Pleasant feelings are happiness, unpleasant feelings are suffering, and other neutral contaminated things are not just feelings, but because of the feeling, the formations experienced also get names like pleasant etc. All the self-causes with the same object are included. In this way, those contaminated things themselves are suffering because they have the nature of three sufferings such as the suffering of suffering. That is, because there is nothing that does not have any of the three sufferings, all contaminated things are suffering. That is, what is pleasant is change, and that itself is created by conditions, so formations are also suffering. The nature of what is unpleasant is the nature of harm, so it is suffering. Both formations are neutral feeling, just formations. Formations are dependent on karma and afflictions, inconsistent with the noble ones, and momentary. Or, what is called "any kind", there are three in the desire realm, two below the third dhyana, and only one formation above the third dhyana. If it becomes suffering just because of impermanence, then the path truth will also become like that, if you say that, it is not right. The path is the cause of leading to the happiness of the cessation of all suffering, it is uncontaminated, and the other side is the opposite of this. Therefore, the teacher said: There is a single hair in the palm of the hand, people do not notice it. But if it goes into the eye, it is like unpleasant and causing harm. Children are like the palm of the hand, they do not notice the suffering of formations like hair. The noble ones are like the eye, so it is very unpleasant. As it is said, just as the noble ones have thoughts of suffering in the peak of existence etc., children do not have such thoughts of suffering even in hell. Thus it is said. All contaminated things should not be suffering, because there is also happiness. If you say that, some people think it is the cause and effect of suffering.
