By cultivating through fivefold increase, one is born in Akanistha and attains Arhatship. Half-increase means that, based on the support of the Brahma realm, through practicing threefold increase and so on, one is born in any of the lower five of the Pure Abodes, and there increases fifteenfold, is born in Akanistha, and thus attains Arhatship. Dying and transferring in all places means that, except for the Great Brahma, it is impossible to have sixteen in these sixteen places; one must increase once. Note: After passing through all places, one attains Arhatship in Akanistha. Since there are cases of attaining Arhatship below Akanistha, it is not necessarily in these three cases, but is representative. The Non-returner is not limited to the desire realm alone, however, the noble one who is born in any place will not return to that place or the places below it. Moreover, those noble ones will attain Arhatship on that support, and if they do not attain it there, they will transfer upwards, because there is a difference. It is impossible to be born in the Cloudless and other places after the increase has diminished, because the increase is a practitioner of the fourth dhyana, and will not be diminished by the afflictions of his own realm, and if it is not diminished, he will be born in the Pure Abodes. Second, those who do not increase dhyana go from the form realm to the peak of existence, gradually going from the first dhyana, except for the Pure Abodes, and then going to the formless realms, and attaining Arhatship at the peak of existence. Although those who transfer upwards sometimes attain Arhatship in the intermediate lower places, mentioning the peak of existence and Akanistha is because it speaks of the ultimate limit, and there is no place to go higher than that. For example, a Stream-enterer may manifest realization and attain Nirvana in three or two existences, but thereafter the eighth existence will not be realized, and even if it reaches the peak, it is only the seventh existence, so it is said to be seven existences. Second, going to the formless realm means that, other than going to the form realm, one goes from this desire realm to the formless realm, and there are four types of birth and so on for this, and because there is no intermediate state, there is no transition through the intermediate state. Saying four is also in terms of the general, because there is no upward transfer from below the realm of nothingness to the peak of existence. Second, the peace of the visible dharma means that, different from the previous Non-returners, it refers to attaining Nirvana in this life, because one no longer takes rebirth, so one is a Non-returner. For this, relying on

There are nine categories. If divided by abandonment, etc., there are one thousand six hundred and sixty-two categories. Similarly, in the intermediate state of nirvana, if divided by place and severance of lineage, there are two thousand five hundred and ninety-two categories, etc. One should understand these methods of classification. Second, in order to accomplish a superior future rebirth, the classification of non-returners has two distinctions: the distinction of nature and the cause of being born in the Pure Abodes, which is the distinction of meditative absorption. The first is divided into two: the classification of those who go to the Form Realm and the common classification of upward transference. The first is divided into two: the actual and the reasons for them. First, the sutra says, "Why are nine non-returners taught as approaching the Form Realm?" This is because the three types of intermediate passing, birth passing, and upward transference are further divided into three types, thus explaining the nine non-returners who approach the Form Realm. That is, intermediate passing is illustrated by three examples: dying as a small spark of oil dregs manifests, dying as iron sparks rise upward, and dying as iron sparks rise upward without falling to the ground. These illustrate the three types of swift, non-swift, and attaining nirvana after a long time. Birth passing includes three types: immediately after birth, with intention, and without intention. Upward transference includes three types of leaping, making a total of nine. Second, the differences between the three non-returners and these nine are: the accomplishment of the intermediate state by their respective actions, after birth, and the three differences of experiencing change in other instances, as well as the three types of sharp, medium, and dull faculties, the three types of great, medium, and small afflictions, and the differences arising from the nine distinctions of sharpness within sharpness, etc., and smallness within smallness, etc., in faculties and afflictions. Among these, there is no difference in action between faculties and afflictions, because the first three groups, etc., are similar in manifesting accomplishment, and similar in experiencing change after birth, etc. Although it is said so, I think there is also a force of attraction in it. Second, it is divided into the actual and the three reasons for explaining who does not have upward transference. First, the scriptures say that noble beings have seven destinations, and there are many types of upward transference. Therefore, the three types of upward transference among these nine are not separated but counted as one, which is called the seven destinations of noble beings. Second, why are only these specifically mentioned among the learners?
