In detail, there are two types: entering and abiding. If entering is distinguished by the path, then the path of seeing has fifteen moments, hence there are fifteen types. Each of these is further divided into six types by detachment from desire, i.e., from the non-abandonment of cultivation-abandonment to the abandonment of the fifth. Each of these is further divided into two types, i.e., in faith-followers, there are five types from those whose nature is the decline of lineage distinctions to those who have a share of realization. Each of these is further divided into three types by faculties. Each of these is further divided into nine types by support, i.e., the three continents and the six desire heavens. Thus, the total is twenty-seven thousand seven hundred and fifty. Similarly, Dharma-followers do not have lineage distinctions, so there are two thousand four hundred and thirty. In the abiding in the fruit, faith is the same as other faith-followers, but there is no distinction of paths, so there are eight hundred and ten. The seen-attainment is the same as other Dharma-followers, but there is no distinction of paths, so there are one hundred and twelve. For the going forth for detachment from desire, there are two types of entering and abiding in the once-returner. First, faith-followers are the same as other stream-enterers, but are divided into three types by detachment from desire, i.e., four thousand eight hundred and sixty. The faith-followers of the going forth for detachment from desire are one hundred and twenty-nine thousand six hundred. And so on. Second, the abiding in the fruit has two distinctions: the common and the abiding in the fruit itself, and the special one who has entered the higher. First, faith-Dharma-followers, whichever of the first three fruits they enter, abiding in the path of seeing, then in the sixteenth moment, they will abide in the fruit of stream-enterer, etc., and at that time, both sharp and dull faculties will enter. It is not a follower of faith-Dharma, because the fruit has already been obtained, so it is called faith-understanding and seen-attainment. Second, why is it that even if the five cultivations to be abandoned of the desire realm are abandoned, in the sixteenth consciousness it is only called stream-enterer, and not called once-returner? Because even if only the fruit of stream-enterer is obtained, abiding in the sixteenth consciousness, there is no attainment of the special fruit, i.e., the path of once-returner, therefore, in order to obtain the fruit of stream-enterer, not striving to obtain the special path, it is said not to be entering the once-returner. Others also, even if they abide in the fruit, do not strive on the path for the sake of the higher, it is not entering, but only obtaining their own fruit. If the cultivations to be abandoned are abandoned by the worldly path, then ordinary people will not regress, or become holy.

If it is said that it will regress, the Vaibhashika masters say that even the noble ones regress, what need is there to mention worldly people? However, the preliminary practice of detachment from desire is impossible to regress, because it is stabilized by two paths. The Sutra masters and others say that the worldly path only eliminates manifest afflictions that should be abandoned, and only diminishes the seeds, without eliminating them from the root. The transcendental path eliminates them, and the preliminary practice of detachment from desire is that the worldly path's meditation eliminates the manifest afflictions that should be abandoned. The seeds are also immediately eliminated by the transcendental meditative path that arises, so from then on, it is impossible to come to the desire realm more than once, and it is said that way because it does not return. The second is the gradual one, with two kinds of people: those with causes and those with effects. First, the nine grounds from the desire realm to the peak of existence, and each of those grounds has nine faults that should be abandoned, so there are eighty-one. Similarly, the antidotal qualities of the meditative path are also nine: small, medium, and large, and within them there are nine distinctions such as small of small, so the afflictions to be abandoned are gradually eliminated from large to small, and the antidotes gradually arise from small to large, like washing clothes. Second, there are four: Stream-enterer, Once-returner, Non-returner, and Arhat. First, there are the Seven-times-born and the Family-to-family. This has four divisions of two. Note: Those with different fruit positions and three others. First, those who abide in the fruit of Stream-entry, even if they have not exhausted a single affliction to be abandoned by previous practice, even if they have not abandoned it, will not exceed seven existences. Some sutras say that if one enjoys (uses), it is seven existences, and if one enjoys extremely, it is also seven existences. The Vaibhashika masters say that there are seven existences in the realm of gods, seven existences in the realm of humans, and seven times seven existences between the two, totaling twenty-eight existences, but because the seven groups are the same in Dharma, so it is called the Seven-times-born, like a tree with seven leaves. The Sutra masters say that the Samyukta Agama Sutra says that there is no place to achieve eight existences, so it is harmful. The Vaibhashika masters say that this is said in terms of not being born in the same category in one place. This is also said in terms of the desire realm of those who desire seven existences. It is only seven existences, like a snake trapped by seven steps. If there is no Buddha's teaching after that,
