How is the meaning understood by wisdom remembered? The thought of assuming the general characteristic as real is wrong knowledge. Some say that the determination of mental discrimination is also considered wisdom, and there is no contradiction. Third, in the path of directly realizing the truth, there are two explanations: the nature of the path is explained as the sixteen moments of wisdom, and other classifications of them. The first has two aspects: teaching and explanation. First, from the supreme wisdom of worldly dharma, the forbearance of knowledge of dharma, which is without outflows, arises. Second, what does it focus on? It focuses on the suffering of the desire realm. It is similar to the supreme dharma, so it is said that any of the four aspects can be distinguished by the differences of beings such as those who indulge in desire. Because one knows the nature of suffering and is not afraid of it. Or, because the result is the cause of knowing the dharma, it is named after the result, like a tree with flowers and fruits. If it arises, it will definitely become a noble being and nirvana, so it is also called definite entry. Because this is the future that is arising, it is also called preventing ordinary beings in order to prevent ordinary beings. Some say that ordinary beings are prevented by the supreme dharma, but then the supreme dharma becomes non-ordinary beings. Preventing ordinary beings includes the supreme dharma and dharma forbearance, the path of no interval and the path of liberation, etc. Although this is said, it is only a formal contradiction, except for the conforming words. The Vaibhashikas believe that ordinary beings are to be abandoned by cultivation, so they cannot be abandoned by the path of seeing. The Vaibhashika's view is: even if the supreme dharma abandons it, it will not become non-ordinary beings, because it is not already abandoned. As the Abhidharmakosha says: The path that will cease completely abandons its obstacles. Furthermore, although it is to be abandoned by cultivation, because the karmic conditions for generating evil destinies are not complete, it is like cessation when the path of seeing is attained. When dharma forbearance is arising, because the conditions are not complete, the attainment of ordinary beings is cut off, so it is abandoned. If it is not like this, then the one on the path of seeing becomes a non-noble being. Therefore, it is not directly abandoned by the antidote, because it is not an affliction. The difference between deterioration and abandonment is: the former is the cessation of attainment because the conditions are not complete, and the latter is abandonment because the antidote has arisen. Therefore, when dharma forbearance is arising, it is abandoned because the non-substantial cessation of ordinary beings is attained.

Chapter on Grounds. From the arising of Dharma-kshanti, there arises Dharma-jnana that focuses on the suffering of desire. This is Dharma-jnana because it initially understands the suchness of the Dharma of desire, but it is not kshanti because the previous wisdom has already subdued fear. Just as the uncontaminated kshanti-jnana arises focusing on the suffering of desire, similarly, for the remaining suffering and the suffering of the higher realms, there arise Anvaya-kshanti-jnana and Anvaya-jnana. These wisdoms are Anvaya-jnana because they arise after Dharma-jnana. Because they do not fear the Dharma-nature of the suffering of the higher realms, and because they enter into having subdued fear, they are kshanti and jnana. Similarly, for the other three truths, four kshanti-jnanas are distinguished for each. Thus, the path of directly seeing or directly realizing the truths is sixteen moments of uncontaminated mind. Regarding this, are the truths realized simultaneously or sequentially? If according to the first, the sixteen moments are contradictory. If according to the second, in the Avatamsaka Sutra, it says, "As soon as one is connected with this view, ... one abandons them all at once and sees the noble truths." This contradicts the statement that what is to be abandoned is abandoned all at once. To this, the Sthaviras and the Dharmaguptakas say: Although it is realized simultaneously, the sixteen are in terms of the sixteen aspects of Dharma for the four truths. The Sarvastivadins say that it is sequential, for if one abandons them all at once, one cannot abide in the state of stream-enterer. And in the Samyukta Agama Sutra, etc., using the example of the foundation, walls, and stairs of a house, it is explained that without the former arising, there is no possibility of the latter arising, and that it is sequential. Saying simultaneously refers to a single Abhisamaya of action. If one sees suffering, one abandons the origin and realizes cessation, and those are also the result of familiarizing oneself with the path. Here, sequential Abhisamaya is the Abhisamaya of the path of seeing. Regarding the second, establishing three Abhisamayas, the place of reliance, the difference between jnana and kshanti, and the difference between seeing and meditation, are four points. First, if one distinguishes Abhisamaya by way of expression, there are three types: the Abhisamaya of seeing is the direct seeing of the sixteen aspects of the four truths by uncontaminated wisdom. The object-focused Abhisamaya is wisdom and the associated mind.
