A Bodhisattva who is mindful and contemplates the Dharma accordingly. This is praised from the aspect of the merit of practicing the six perfections with mindfulness. Even if someone begs, if one does not give, or changes one's face, and scolds, giving without respect and feeling ashamed, in the world, if wealthy people encounter begging, they will give very little and scold, which is shameful. Bodhisattvas, with compassion, promise to give away all things for the sake of others, so if they are unhappy when someone begs and sit arrogantly, it is not the way of a Bodhisattva, which is shameful. Bodhisattvas regard even the smallest transgressions of precepts and natural faults with fear and caution, and they are ashamed of even the smallest faults. Bodhisattvas endure all harm and suffering, so if they cannot endure harm done by others and their minds are disturbed, it is shameful. Bodhisattvas strive continuously with great diligence, so if they completely fall away from practicing virtuous Dharma and become lazy, it is shameful. Bodhisattvas attain mastery of the mind in equanimity and immeasurable samadhi, so if they dwell in the midst of worldly affairs and their minds wander and scatter to external objects, it is shameful. Bodhisattvas are naturally endowed with wisdom and possess the wisdom to realize the two selflessnesses taught in the Mahayana Dharma, so if their view is narrow, knowing only the selflessness of persons, and they have not separated from clinging to characteristics in phenomena, they possess shame. Therefore, a Bodhisattva who does not enter the other vehicles of Hearers and Solitary Realizers and is ashamed of practicing them. This is praised from the aspect of not desiring other vehicles. Thus, the practice of those perfections is all about benefiting others with the main focus on benefiting others, so from the aspect of merit, it is praised as: giving enjoyment to the busy and impoverished through generosity, thus benefiting this life, and gathering generosity and so on and placing them in discipline, thus benefiting the next life. By means of patience, not disturbing the mind, not retaliating against harm, and benefiting sentient beings by means of abandonment.

Helping, and the diligence or action of helping others in their affairs, therefore it is helping; helping others by gaining mastery over the qualities of clairvoyance and so on through meditation; helping others by equally showing the five sciences through wisdom, especially the inner science of the three vehicles, according to their preferences; in this way, by obtaining the great fruit of accomplishing the pāramitās, the state of Buddhahood, benefiting sentient beings as long as space exists, therefore, from the perspective of cause and effect, Bodhisattvas engage in benefiting all sentient beings. The Blo brtan commentary considers this verse to be a concise summary of the meaning of the previous verses. Secondly, showing the categories of Bodhisattva names, these are also names that correspond to the meaning from the perspective of qualities, so they can also be classified as categories of qualities. Therefore, for the common name of all Bodhisattvas, the sixteen names such as Bodhisattva are proclaimed as follows: Because of single-mindedly believing in the nature of the two selflessnesses, the profound object of knowledge, it is called Bodhisattva. Or, because of having a firm intention to accomplish unsurpassed Bodhi, it is called Bodhisattva. The Great Hero is the one who has mastery over great power, that is, even in a single pore, he can show the kalpas of the formation, duration, destruction, and emptiness of the three thousand great thousand worlds, and so on. Or, because one desires to attain unsurpassed Bodhi, one is a Bodhisattva, and because one desires to liberate all sentient beings from the suffering of samsara and place them in Nirvana, one is called a Great Hero. Or, because one abides in samsara with great wisdom, yet is not defiled by the faults of samsara, one is a Bodhisattva, and because one initiates endless diligence for the benefit of sentient beings with great compassion, one is called a Great Hero. Or, because one generates the mind to accomplish unsurpassed Bodhi, one is a Bodhisattva, and because one possesses the seven greatnesses mentioned above, one is a Great Hero. According to these methods, Bodhisattva and Great Hero are both Bodhisattvas, differing only in terms of reverse distinction.
