It is the cause of manifestation. Regarding all dharmas, if one knows that the two selfs, the self of person and the self of phenomena, are both completely imputed and not truly existent, then one can manifest the samadhi of emptiness. Nirvana is peace. The Sutra of Nirvana is the cause of the signless samadhi. By abiding in the perfectly established nature of primordial peace, which is to be known by each individual for themselves, one can pacify all elaborations of signs and manifest the cessation of suffering, the truth of cessation, which is peaceful nirvana. What are the four meanings of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and peace? The meaning of these four vows of steadfast Bodhisattvas is: phenomena arise and do not remain for a second moment; the meaning of not being constant is the meaning of impermanence. The Sanskrit word for impermanence is Anitya, where Nitya means constant and A is a negative prefix, so it is called impermanent or not constant. The commentary says that mere arising and ceasing is not the impermanence to be realized by Bodhisattvas, but rather the constant non-existence as imputed by the two selfs. Although it appears as arising and ceasing, in the ultimate sense, there is no arising, so how can there be ceasing? There is no ceasing. Since there is no ceasing, there is no basis for clinging to permanence, and therefore there is nothing to be desired. This clearly refers to the ultimate truth. The meaning of mere conceptualization is suffering. Even though it does not exist, the mere fact of revolving in samsara due to the inverted imputation of grasping and grasper is suffering. Knowing this is the meaning of suffering. The meaning of selflessness is: on the other-dependent nature that appears as grasper and grasped, it is merely the meaning of completely imputing the grasper and grasped as person and phenomena; other than that, it is not established as such. The meaning of peace is: knowing the nature of perfect establishment, when practice reaches its culmination, it is the meaning of the complete pacification of all conceptualizations of signs. Now, to establish the meaning of impermanence and selflessness through reasoning. First, to establish that all conditioned phenomena are impermanent. From "arising from an unsuitable cause" to "therefore, inner and outer are momentary," this is explained in ten verses. Here, there are two aspects: the general statement that all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, and the specific explanation. First, the general statement: all conditioned phenomena, inner and outer, are momentary.

Having vowed that each and every one is impermanent, with "because it is not permissible" and "because it arises from causes," etc., as cut off by the word "because," and up to "because of purity" and "because of following sentient beings," fourteen reasons are established. Among them, "not permissible" means "because it is not permissible." What is not permissible? That is, conditioned phenomena arise from causes and conditions, and before the continuity is cut off, like the flow of a river, the previous moment ceases and the next moment arises, continuously occurring without interruption. If it is not momentary, then it is unreasonable or impermissible for that thing to arise and continue in various lengths of time. Others say that it is not impermissible, but that things arise in the first moment due to the power of the aggregation of causes and conditions, and do not cease immediately, but remain as such until they do not encounter the cause of destruction, such as days, months, years, etc. If so, even if the first moment is allowed to appear, it will cease immediately after the first moment occurs because there is no cause after that, and there is no continuous occurrence. It is necessary to explain the cause of existence in the second moment, etc., and the cause of ultimate destruction, but the cause that produces the first moment cannot produce non-momentary things such as years, days, months, etc., because both cause and effect are momentary. For example, the flow of a river is the continuous flow of new water, and if the new water is interrupted, the flow will also be interrupted. The continuity of a lamp flame is also from the cause of wick and oil, and before the oil is exhausted, the oil is transformed into flame, and new flames are continuously produced, but because the oil is exhausted, the effect of the flame will also be interrupted, and the flame of the first moment will not last for a while without other cause of oil. Some people think that if it is not destroyed in an instant, then it should not be destroyed in the end, and this emphasis is similar to "not destroyed in the beginning, not changed in the end," and there is no contradiction in meaning, but it should be understood as explained in the commentary. Others say that from birth to existence for a period of time, there is no other reason,
