The opposite of patience, anger, diminishes, and one possesses the wisdom of non-discrimination in the three spheres of the one who practices patience, patience, and the accomplishment of patience. Not retaliating against harm fulfills all the wishes of others. By means of patience, beings are placed in the three vehicles, thus ripening beings, in three ways. The opposite of diligence, laziness, diminishes, and one possesses the wisdom of non-discrimination in the three spheres of the diligent one, diligence, and the accomplishment of diligence. By being a friend to whatever actions beings should do, and by accomplishing their benefit, all wishes are fulfilled. By means of diligence, beings are ripened in the three vehicles, in three ways. The opposite of meditation, distraction, diminishes, and one possesses the wisdom of non-discrimination because the three—the meditator, the object of meditation, and the act of meditating—are not apprehended. By means of magical powers and clairvoyance, the wishes of beings are fulfilled. By means of meditation, beings are ripened, in three ways. The opposite of wisdom, Self-view and other corrupt wisdoms diminish, and one possesses the wisdom of non-discrimination because the three—the individual and the accomplishment of wisdom—are not apprehended. By means of cutting off doubt and so forth, all the wishes of others are fulfilled. Beings are ripened by the three vehicles, which are three actions. Third, the order of the six perfections is due to three reasons: First, the order in which the latter arises based on the former is as follows: If one is attached to various enjoyments, one cannot renounce the household and take vows; if one is not attached, one can. Therefore, the giving of non-attachment to enjoyments is the cause of discipline, as previously stated. One cannot endure the abuse and so forth of those with evil conduct, but by the power of those who subdue evil conduct, discipline is the cause of patience. Therefore, discipline is taught after giving. Because one cannot endure any harm such as heat, cold, hunger, and thirst, one cannot initiate diligence, but because those with patience can initiate diligence, patience is taught after discipline.
