The Śrāvakabodhi, which knows that saṃsāra, which has the nature of attachment and so on, will be exhausted at some point and will not arise again in one's own continuum, is ignorant of that very nature. As the Abhisamayālaṃkāra says: "Other dharmas also exist, and they also show what is to be known. What is the point of saying that the obscurations are exhausted? I consider this very strange." It is said. Similarly, the noble Asaṅga, in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, also says in the profound verses of the Dharmakāya: "For those who possess great means, afflictions and bodhi become limbs, and saṃsāra is also the nature of peace. Therefore, the Tathāgata is inconceivable." Thus, saṃsāra itself is nirvāṇa, and afflictions are transformed into limbs or paths of bodhi. These are also shown more clearly in the Svabhāvikakāya, and if one does not realize this with wisdom, one cannot attain the great bodhi that does not abide in the extremes of existence and peace. In the Resultant Vehicle, the special expedient paths and so on that are in accordance with that realization are also shown without concealment, and thus it becomes a quick path to enlightenment. Second, it is shown that the means of not abandoning all sentient beings is the means of attaining great bodhi. The unbearable suffering of being in hell for the sake of sentient beings, such as roasting and so on, certainly does not harm the body and mind of the sons of the Victorious Ones, nor does it obstruct the path of the Great Vehicle, because they develop a mind like an illusion and a great armor of compassion for sentient beings. Holding that peaceful nirvāṇa has virtues and that saṃsāra has faults, the various seemingly virtuous discriminations that lead to the path of the Lesser Vehicle are obstacles that hinder the path of the wise bodhisattva. Why? Because the wise one who dwells in hell only experiences suffering at that time, and does not become an obstacle to the great bodhi, which is free from the stains of the two obscurations and has vast and extensive qualities such as strength, at all times or forever, as in the story of the daughter of the good friend and the giant Pīta. Other vehicles, the paths and fruits of the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, discriminate to pacify afflictions and suffering for their own benefit, and only think of benefiting themselves.

To guard (diligence) is very comfortable at that time, but it hinders the great Bodhi. Those who have entered the Mahayana path will also abandon the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi due to the evil practices of others, just as the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas realize Nirvana. Again, when explaining the wisdom of non-objectification and great compassion, firstly, children think that all dharmas do not exist in the ultimate sense and that clinging to mere appearances is contradictory, because they do not understand that reason and are afraid. Although the self-nature is originally free from all defilements, they also think that the sudden purification of impurities is contradictory, and they are afraid and do not believe in Mahayana, which is also due to not understanding the profound secret meaning. If they understand, those reasons are not contradictory. Why? Because these dharmas are merely appearances, but they are not truly established as they appear, like illusions and dreams, so there is clinging in name. Similarly, in the ultimate sense, there is no objectification of characteristics, so it should be understood as being like the sky, so clinging and non-clinging are not contradictory. For example, just as on a cloth, a skilled painter, through the method or ritual of practicing skills, skillfully paints various images with various colors. In the painting, there is actually no height or depression, but in the eyes, hands, feet, faces, etc. appear to be high and low and raised. Similarly, the non-real conceptualization that does not correctly understand the truth of things, although the grasper and the grasped are not different, will appear to exist. Because the state and appearance are inconsistent, it does not contradict that it appears to exist even though it does not exist in reality. It is also not contradictory that the self-nature is pure, but later appears to be pure when it is free from impurities. For example, water is naturally clear and not mixed with soil, but when it is mixed with soil and becomes turbid, the nature of water is not mixed with soil and cannot be separated, but the water still exists, but it also appears to be turbid. Later, becoming clear is the clarity of the previous nature of the water, not newly produced from the turbidity that did not exist before. That clarity is only the water being free from the impurities that were suddenly contaminated by mud. Similarly,
