Chapter Fourteen: The Chapter on Accomplishing What is Desired. Chapter Fourteen: The Chapter on Accomplishing What is Desired. Thus, a seeker of Dharma, endowed with much learning, should practice the Dharma. Therefore, in the chapter on practice, there are three aspects: general explanation, specific explanation, and summarizing the meaning. The first aspect is explained through six verses beginning with "The Wise One." The sutras explain the various distinctions of practice, such as knowing all meanings, knowing all Dharmas, practicing the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma, entering in accordance with it, and acting in accordance with the Dharma. As the five phrases indicate, the first, knowing all meanings, refers to a Bodhisattva who is wise and engages in practice. Regarding the two truths, or the two aspects of non-conceptualization, other-powered nature, and perfect nature, namely, being free from wrongness and reality. By practicing with faith, one realizes the two selflessnesses, which are in accordance with suchness. Compared to worldly wisdom, it is not inverted, so it is not wrong. However, since it is worldly, compared to transcendental wisdom, it is not reality either. Therefore, it is the nature of being completely separated from both. Thus, through the three samadhis of emptiness, wishlessness, and signlessness, one knows all about the two types of selflessness in beings and phenomena. Through the samadhi of emptiness, one understands that beings and phenomena are merely imputed by names, signs, symbols, and terms. Having understood that the nature of conceptualization is emptiness, the self of a person has neither the nature of being grasped nor the nature of grasping. Similarly, the self of phenomena such as forms and sounds has neither the nature of being grasped nor the nature of grasping. Therefore, these two selves, like rabbit horns, have never existed in reality. Thus, one understands completely. The basis for the appearance of the two, grasper and grasped, is the other-powered mind and mental factors, which are unreal conceptualizations. These exist nominally, and all defilements and various sufferings of samsara are undeniably and truly established. No one should say that these do not exist, because if they did not exist, the establishment of all defilements and purification would be impossible. However, no one can dispute the existence of samsara and nirvana. Thus, although there is other-powered nature, it is not true conceptual suffering.
