Since places and formations, etc., are defiled by afflictions, realizing that they are not places of hope and aspiration, one knows their nature as it is with the desireless samadhi. The parinispanna is the nature of emptiness of the two selves and the two of grasper and grasped, so it is the dharma-nature of all dharmas, like the heat of fire and the moisture of water. If it were not, there would be the two selves and the grasper and grasped. Thus, although the dharma-nature parinispanna exists, it has no characteristics of any elaboration of grasper and grasped, and the conceptual thoughts of speech and thought are pacified. It is known by the signless samadhi, so one knows all the meanings of existence and non-existence. Or, having known all the meanings of existence and non-existence of the parikalpita and paratantra conventional truths, and the parinispanna ultimate truth, what is knowing the Dharma? It is knowing the teachings of the Sutras and so on. All the expressible dharmas in the form of collections of names, sentences, and letters of the Sutras and so on, are like a boat that is indispensable for crossing a river, but once the river has been crossed and the purpose of the boat has been served, it is no longer necessary to rely solely on the boat. Similarly, the dharmas in the form of names, sentences, and letters that are conventionally established for the purpose of understanding and knowing the expressed, should also be recognized as being no different from that boat, and one should abandon the attachment of being satisfied with merely hearing the words, and focus on generating the wisdom of thinking about the meaning of the words, which is called knowing the Dharma. Third, to practice in accordance with the Dharma is to rely on the wisdom of hearing and thinking about the Dharma in the stage of adhimukti-carya, and to know the meaning and the Dharma. As previously explained, having abandoned the two of right and wrong, similarly, after realizing the two selflessnesses in the manner of an image or a general meaning, in order to make that knowledge complete and pure, and to transform it into the nature of transcendental wisdom, the meditation from the heat stage to the highest mundane dharma stage is the practice of the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma. Fourth, entering in accordance with it, from then on, that Bodhisattva, in the first bhumi, that is, the Extremely Joyful, having attained the nature of the Bodhisattva's path of seeing, becomes equal to all.

Attaining the unsurpassed state of wisdom that transcends the world, surpassing that of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, is accomplished through realizing the meaning of the nature of reality, entering the bodhisattva grounds without flaw, and entering in accordance with all. Fifth, engaging in conducive practices refers to the accomplishment on the path of meditation. Having previously attained the path of seeing, thereby completely exhausting all afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, one diligently applies oneself to meditation from the second to the tenth grounds in order to abandon the obscurations to knowledge. What kind of wisdom is it that eliminates obscurations? It is the wisdom of subsequent attainment, which discerns and establishes pure worldly knowledge, enabling one to know all that exists. And the wisdom of equipoise, the non-conceptual wisdom, knows the nature of reality as it is, like the sky. These two, occurring one after the other in succession, are practiced alternately. In this way, the continuous sequence arises, and likewise, on the remaining grounds such as the second, one engages in practices that are in accordance with what has been seen. Thus, as stated in the sutras, in accordance with the five categories of accomplishment, from faith-practice up to the tenth ground of the path of meditation, the general manner of accomplishment is shown. To explain in detail, there are three aspects: the conducive conditions for accomplishment, the nature of what is to be accomplished, and how to accomplish it, illustrated by examples. First, the conducive conditions for accomplishment are the four great wheels: residing in a suitable place, relying on a noble person, having good aspirations oneself, and having the karmic residue of previously accumulated merit. Possessing these four makes accomplishment complete, so this is explained. A place is where a wise person can easily obtain the necessities of life with little effort, and where there are no unruly people or ferocious beasts, making it a good place. Land and water are suitable, not causing disease, and free from scabies and leprosy, making it good land that is pleasing and agreeable. Having virtuous friends who share the same discipline and view, and without obstacles to the practice of meditative yoga, such as people coming and going during the day, and loud noises at night, without thorns to meditation, possessing the qualities of comfortable practice, residing in such a place will increase yoga.
