Through hearing and thinking, one can realize; through meditation, relying on tranquility, one can pacify the wandering thoughts; through insight, one can thoroughly realize suchness, thereby liberating one's own continuum. How are the three baskets categorized, and what are their meanings? The Sutra Pitaka, Abhidhamma Pitaka, and Vinaya Pitaka, if considered in brief, each is believed to have four meanings. A wise Bodhisattva, if able to thoroughly understand the three baskets of both the Greater and Lesser Vehicles, and through practicing the path, will attain omniscience. The Shravakas, because they do not seek omniscience, even without understanding the three baskets, merely by understanding the meaning of a single verse that explains the selflessness of the person, can attain the wisdom of realizing the cessation of their own path and the non-arising of rebirth. What are the four brief meanings of the three baskets? Where it is taught, such as in Shravasti (mnyan yod), by whom it is taught, by the Blessed One (bcom ldan 'das), and for whom it is taught, such as the questioners, these three are called the place, the place of origin or topic of the Sutra Pitaka, hence there are such places. And the characteristics of the two truths, the dharmas of the aggregates, elements, sense bases, dependent origination, etc., and the meanings of these dharmas, divided into definitive, non-definitive, and hidden meanings. Because it is only briefly stated, it is called the Sutra Pitaka, derived from the Sanskrit (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) सूत्रा (sūtra), meaning to gather these meanings there, or to contain them there briefly. From the sound of Sanskrit (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) अभि (abhi) comes the Abhidhamma Pitaka, which is also Sanskrit (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) अभिमुख (abhimukha), meaning "facing," that is, facing Nirvana. Because it accurately determines the meanings of the truths, the factors of enlightenment, dependent origination, etc., it enables one to face Nirvana. Similarly, for each dharma, various classifications are repeatedly made, such as whether it is form or formless, defiled or undefiled, and it is clearly shown. And, through logical debates and arguments, one is able to completely overcome the opponents. And, by determining the meaning of the Sutra Pitaka in a logical and clear manner, thereby enabling it to be realized, it is therefore called the Abhidhamma. Sanskrit (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) विनय (vinaya) means the Vinaya Pitaka. Among them, the offenses are divided into five

There are five types of individual confession: confession of defeat, residue, expiation, confession of offenses, and misdeeds. The causes for the arising or occurrence of these offenses are: not knowing the definitions of these offenses, afflictions, carelessness, and disrespect for the precepts. The way to arise or recover from offenses is: to repent from the depths of one's heart and vow not to commit them again in the future, and to recover from sins through restraint. There are seven ways to be liberated or completely free from offenses: The first is individual confession, which is to confess and repent before one or four monks. The second is to accept punishment, which is for those who have committed a fundamental offense without concealment and later feel remorse. The way to accept punishment through confession is: to place them at the end of the Sangha, to receive food offerings last, and then to be given the precepts again. The third is liberation through change, such as when the Blessed One did not allow eating food in the afternoon, but allowed it in certain circumstances for the convenience of those traveling on the road. The fourth is release, which is when the Blessed One once said to Ananda, 'When I pass into Nirvana, you may release the minor parts of the precepts that have been established.' But when the Buddha entered Nirvana, Ananda was too overwhelmed with grief to ask. Later, Mahakashyapa and other compilers questioned him as to why he had not made the request. Therefore, based on the statement of the Blessed One that 'minor precepts may be released,' the Sarvastivada school believes that the Sangha can release minor precepts, but this is only a legend. In the Vinaya, there has never been a case of the Sangha releasing precepts, neither in the past nor in the present, as stated in the Great Commentary on the Vibhasha. The fifth is the change of place or basis, that is, if there is a change of gender between a monk or a nun, then their offenses will also change. A monk has four root offenses, and a nun has eight root offenses, so the number of root offenses and offenses will change. If one becomes a nun, even if one has committed a lifelong offense of a monk, this offense is not common and must be confessed by the monk himself. Therefore, even if one does not perform rituals such as confession after becoming a woman, one will be liberated from the sin. The same is true when a nun's gender changes.
