It is said that liberation is the opposite of entering into samsara. The explanation of the four categories of liberation only shows liberation from different categories. Although the 'Wise Commentary' does not mention other meanings, the first category explains the nature of liberation from the aspect of changing places, the second explains it from the aspect of the path of liberation, the third explains it from the order of the occurrence of liberation, and the fourth is whether or not liberation depends on the mind. If there is bondage, the mind is bound; if there is liberation, the mind is liberated. It is not reasonable to say that liberation is controlled by Ishvara, as the heretics believe, or that liberation becomes corporeal, as the naked ascetics believe, because it is never possible to be liberated without abandoning the bondage of the mind. If one abandons the bondage of the two kinds of self-grasping, that is liberation. These four categories are a comprehensive search for liberation. Eighth, the complete search for no-self-nature is shown by two verses, such as 'self and self's nature'. The Sutra Pitaka says that all dharmas are without self-nature and are naturally extinguished. If this meaning is combined with the three self-natures, how should it be explained? The so-called all dharmas, if briefly stated, are the completely imputed, the other-dependent, and the perfectly established, and these three self-natures or characteristics are all contained here. Among them, the other-dependent is the mind and mental events that appear as the taker and the taken, which are momentary and continuous. This has the three characteristics of conditioned phenomena: arising, abiding, and ceasing. Therefore, the past has ceased, and the self-nature of that dharma does not exist now; the future has not yet arisen, and the substance of that dharma does not exist now; the present moment of abiding does not abide in the second moment, so it is considered to be without things or without self-nature. This analysis of no-self-nature from the perspective of arising and ceasing is also the way in which the Shravakas explain emptiness and no-self-nature. In addition, if the meaning of the arising of other-dependence is explained as no-self-nature, the so-called 'self' refers to the dependent arising appearance of other-dependence. These are not produced by their own nature, but by the other-dependence of the aggregation of causes and conditions, so arising is no-

Because there is no inherent existence, it is said to be without self-nature. This is to refute the Samkhya school's view that other things arise from the Pradhana (chief principle), or that the effect already exists in the cause, and if it does not exist, it cannot arise. Because it does not have its own nature, it means that things that have ceased do not arise again as before, which shows that cessation is only the cessation of things. The Samkhyas believe that the destruction of things is not completely gone, but remains latent in the Pradhana, which is not the case. Because it does not abide in its own essence, it means that all the dharmas that arise now do not abide in the second moment, which shows that there is no abiding. The heretics believe that it does not perish in an instant, but abides for a while after it arises, and then perishes, which is not the case. Because there is no grasper and grasped, it means that the completely imputed appears as the two (grasper and grasped), and thus clinging to it as two, the clinging to the grasper and grasped, as well as purity, happiness, permanence, self, etc., is like mistaking a rope for a snake, it is only the object of clinging of a confused mind, but in reality, there is not even a little bit of what the mind clings to, so it is called without self-nature. Thus, it is believed that the dependent arising and the completely imputed are without self-nature. The earlier establishment of no self-nature and no birth, etc., is the basis for the later establishment. Thus, by no self-nature, no birth is established, and whatever is without self-nature cannot be born, so no birth is established. No birth means no cessation, and whatever is without birth and cessation is not newly created by anyone, but is primordially peaceful. Primordially peaceful, it is impossible for suffering to arise, so it is established as naturally nirvana. Thus, by the three ways of dependent arising being without self-nature, and one way of completely imputed being without self-nature, it is explained that all the dharmas that appear as grasper and grasped are without self-nature, therefore it is said that all dharmas are without birth and without cessation, primordially peaceful, and naturally nirvana, which is the perfectly established. Therefore, although dependent arising appears as birth and cessation, it is the dependent arising of the collection of causes and conditions.
