I am the six faculties. What appears to the mind is the afflicted mind, which takes the ālaya-vijñāna as its object and clings to it as self. The grasping is the five consciousnesses from eye consciousness to body consciousness. Discrimination is the mind consciousness, which completely cuts off various objects and discriminates between them. The latter three appearances are considered to be of the nature of grasping, and the former three appearances are considered to be of the nature of the grasped. All six appearances are merely appearances like dreams arising from the awakening of the seed element in the ālaya-vijñāna. Although there is no establishment of separate grasper and grasped, they appear as dualistic as if they exist. Therefore, the non-truly imagined, the minds and mental factors of the three realms are of the nature of other-powered. The Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra also says, "Bodies, enjoyments, and abodes are similar. I have said that it is only mind." Thus, the basis of all phenomena that appear as external and internal is the ālaya-vijñāna with its retinue of seven aggregates, which are called other-powered. Because they appear as phenomena of grasper and grasped from the dependent origination of the other-powered of the seeds of complete contamination, they are called other-powered. What is the perfectly established? It is the nature of the emptiness of the dharma-dhātu, in which there is no nature of the imagined object of grasper and grasped, and the nature of the two emptinesses, which is the very existence of the nature of suchness. Because there is no grasper and grasped, suchness exists, and because suchness exists, there is no grasper and grasped. Whether one speaks of existence or non-existence, there is no difference in meaning, and they are the same and equal. Because the grasper and grasped are completely negated, suchness is perfectly established. If suchness is perfectly established, then the grasper and grasped will disappear in a way that is completely negated. Therefore, there is no difference in meaning between such existence and non-existence. From the aspect of being mixed with adventitious defilements, it is not peaceful. From the aspect of its own essence, it is peaceful because it is naturally pure and luminous. It is not an object of speculation, but is non-conceptual because it is free from all the elaborations of grasper and grasped. This is the nature of the perfectly established. The third nature.

O, the way to know or symbolize being on top of these five bases, that is, the five levels of symbolic yoga: the base, arising or abiding, like a mirror, manifestation, and place or support. Through these five aspects, one should know that phenomena are merely imputed as the part of complete imputation, and abandon the other-dependent aspect of non-real conceptualization that appears as grasper and grasped, and clearly symbolize and know in the mind how the nature of the completely established nature, which is the basis to be purified, exists. So, what are these five considered to be like? The Buddhas, through realizing the two selflessnesses and explaining their meaning as it is, therefore the twelve divisions of scriptures are called "Dharma of the same cause," that is, in accordance with the Dharma of realization realized by the Buddha, or the cause of obtaining it, hence called the same cause. Any person who wants to realize suchness, first in the path of accumulation, hears, thinks, and meditates on the Dharma of the same cause as the realization of the Dharma realm—the scriptures, therefore the object of focus is called "base," that is, the initial cause of entering the teachings, or the base from which the subsequent levels of symbolic yoga arise. Therefore, by focusing on the meaning of the scriptures, that is, "proper attention," etc., the base of abiding or arising is explained. On the path of preparation, through the experience arising from meditation of proper attention, at the stage of heat, phenomena are inexpressible; at the stage of peak, meanings are understood as illusory; at the stage of forbearance, there is no grasping; at the stage of supreme Dharma, one realizes there is no clinging, thus gradually increasing and clarifying the definitive understanding of suchness, this is called the base of arising, that is, for the sake of arising the path of seeing. Or, because the mind is placed on proper attention, it is also called abiding, that is, thereby establishing in the mind the habit of realizing the Dharma beyond the world. Like a mirror, explained by "abiding in the nature of the mind," that is, the nature of the other-dependent mind is the suchness of emptiness of two, therefore directly realizing it, that is, at the time of the first ground of the path of seeing.
