Here, no detailed explanation is given, and it should be understood in the same way at other times. Diligence, in Sanskrit (བཱིརྱ,वीर्य,vīrya, vigor), where (བཱི,वी,vī,) means supreme or sacred, and (རྱ,र्य,rya,) means combination. Because it is combined with the sacred virtue that transcends the world, it is also called supreme combination. Meditation, in Sanskrit (དྷྱ་ན,ध्यान,dhyāna, meditation), similar to "ར་" with "ཡ" attached, i.e., (དྷ་ར་ན,धारणा,dhāraṇa, retention), which means to hold. So what is held? It is to hold the mind inwardly on the object and not to be distracted outwardly, this is meditation. Wisdom, in Sanskrit (པྲཛྙཱ,प्रज्ञा,prajñā, wisdom), where (པྲ,प्र,pra,) is a near-augmentative, meaning excellent. If the word (པར་མ་ཨརྠ,परमार्थ,paramārtha, ultimate meaning) is abbreviated to the letter (པྲ,प्र,pra,), then (པྲ,प्र,pra,) is the ultimate meaning, and (ཛྙཱ,ज्ञा,jñā,) is knowing, so it is said to be for knowing the ultimate meaning. These explanations are made based on the uncommon meanings of the reduction and addition of letters in the root of the word. As for how Sanskrit words are directly translated into Tibetan, such as well-known words like generosity, it should also be understood that etymological explanations can be obtained in this way. Fifth, how to practice these perfections? It is explained in one verse, such as "practice all." How to practice from the practice of generosity perfection to the practice of wisdom perfection? The method of practicing or familiarizing oneself with all six perfections is: to practice by abiding in or relying on objects, similarly, to practice by relying on attention, to practice by relying on intention, to practice by relying on pure means, and to practice by relying on mastery, there are five ways. What are they? Objects, also refer to meaning or substance, etc. There are four ways to practice by abiding in the objects of perfections such as generosity: abiding in the cause, abiding in the result of maturation, abiding in the aspiration, and abiding in the power of individual examination. First, the cause, the power of the Bodhisattva lineage, no matter where one is born, even if not forced by others, one likes to practice the six perfections such as giving, and based on this, one accomplishes any perfection. Second, in the past, one was accustomed to practicing the perfections, so in the next life, one naturally obtains a body that corresponds to it. Third,

Wherever I am born, may I give without attachment to body and possessions, and through the power of praying to practice the six perfections, may I accomplish the perfections. Fourth, by individually examining with wisdom, knowing that enjoyments are impermanent and without essence, engaging in giving, etc., and knowing the qualities of the perfections, practicing them properly. Second, relying on attention to cultivate, there are four types of attention: aspirational attention, believing and aspiring to the sutras of the Great Vehicle that teach the six perfections, as taught in those sutras, thereby increasing the nature of the perfections. Experiencing attention, remembering that I have previously practiced giving, etc., thinking that doing so was good, regarding it as a virtue, and feeling joyful upon remembering what was done in the past. Rejoicing attention, rejoicing and rejoicing in those who practice giving, etc., in the ten directions of the world, as if I were practicing myself. Joyful attention, hoping that oneself and others, wherever they are born in the future, may practice the perfections, and thus feeling joyful in practicing the perfections. Third, relying on intention to cultivate, there are six aspects: the intention of not being satisfied or not being content, the vast intention, the joyful intention, the beneficial intention, the uncontaminated intention, and the virtuous intention. First, regarding not being content, there are also four situations, taking giving as an example: Not being content with giving material things is for the sake of benefiting one sentient being and bringing them to complete maturity. Even if one were to fill worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges with the seven precious substances and give them to that one sentient being, one would not generate the thought, "I have given this much to them, now it is enough." Not being content with giving the body is that even if one were to give one's body as numerous as the sands of the Ganges for the sake of one sentient being in each moment, one would not generate the thought, "I have given this many bodies, now it is enough," and this is how to train the mind in not being content. Not being content with time is that giving the body and possessions in such a way for the sake of one sentient being, even for kalpas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, feels like just a moment, an instant.
