The established awareness, clear and limpid, the essence of primordial purity, spontaneously perfect and indivisible, is called the lamp of self-born wisdom, which liberates the mind of present appearances into the primordial ground. When awareness enters the realm of space, up to the point where the appearance of the three-linked bindu is directly seen by the senses, it is the appearance of the direct perception of reality. Furthermore, in the palace of the essence of the precious citta, where the five lights converge, the primordial protector, the unchanging light, whose essence is emptiness, whose nature is clarity, and whose compassion possesses the essence of awareness, dwells clearly within, empowered to manifest light bodies and limitless realms, and is thus called the attainment of Buddhahood in the great Akanishta. Moreover, the symbol of space is the light-sphere, the symbol of wisdom is the bindu, the symbol of the body is the rainbow chain, the symbol of compassion is self-illumination, and the symbol of essence is non-conceptual wisdom, which is the thought of the three times without change, the equality that has become the complete ground. In the 'After-Death' [text] it says: 'Who sees this essential point of direct perception? It is not the turning of the three realms.' Seeing it in this way, the temporary reality is free from mental fabrication, and ultimately liberation occurs at the exhaustion of the primordial state. Secondly, the appearance of the increase of experience: Experience is the grasping of the mind, and is therefore unstable. In 'Vast Expanse of Clarity' it says: 'The mind is said to be conventional truth.' Thus it is said. However, the arising of the experience of the signs of the path of awareness being liberated within is stable and not deceptive. Moreover, by practicing as before, the space of awareness is sometimes clear and sometimes unclear, but gradually becoming accustomed to it, the space of awareness is free from the limits of ripening, and appears clearly to the senses. The nature of the light of the space-appearance is also like this: upright, radiating, net-like, half-net-like, lotus, many-eyed pattern, sun, moon, castle-like shapes, etc., appearing until they fill all the realms. The bindus are also like this: from the size of a bean, to the size of a mirror, to the size of a peach, to the size of a shield, they become larger and larger. The rainbow chain of awareness is also like this: like a shooting star, like a bird flying swiftly, like a wild animal running swiftly, like an antelope running slowly, like a bee circling nectar, it becomes more and more increasing, more and more clear, and more and more stable. Within the bindu, half-figures of Vajrasattva and so on, or single figures, appear and remain without moving or flickering: this is the increase of experience.

It is the appearance of realization. In "Vast Expanse of Luminosity," it says: "When the body appears and the increase of experience is complete, this bardo appearance is cut off, recognize enjoyment, bardo is emptied." Thus it is said. Therein, the master Vimalamitra, until the appearance of clusters like those surrounded by four lotus petals within the round and dense appearance of space, considers them as visions of increasing experience. Although he considers that awareness reaches completion from the appearance of the deity's body onwards, this is the intention of the great master Padmasambhava. In the "Meaningful Instructions on Liberation Through Connection," it says: "From the time when the lamp of completely pure space separates from one's brow, until the maturation of each individual bodhisattva body within the bindu, it is the appearance of increasing experience." Thus it is said. Moreover, here, when the light appears upright, the eyes are downward; the square is to the right; the round is to the left; the crescent is upward; and the triangle is downward, it is also said. Thus, by seeing the increasing appearance, one temporarily obtains the qualities of experiential visions, and ultimately there is a need for the bardo appearance to be liberated into its own place. Third, the appearance of awareness reaching completion is that the appearance of space pervades everything, so the appearance of earth, water, fire, and wind is self-purified. The vast and boundless space is the appearance of great luminosity. Within each bindu, there also appear immeasurable mandalas of the five families, such as the five male deities of the families, including Vairochana, and the five female deities of the families, such as Dharmadhatu Ishvari, filling the sky. From these, the appearance of light rays appears connected to one's own body, so from then on, even without practice, one reaches completion and does not change. External appearances are liberated into luminosity, so the appearance of materiality vanishes. Internal illusory body is liberated into luminosity, so the clinging to defilements is purified. Secret mind itself dissolves into luminosity, so the appearance of delusion vanishes, and the connection of karma and habitual patterns is severed. In "Vast Expanse of Luminosity," it says: "By the appearance of awareness reaching completion, external and internal grasping and grasped materiality are liberated." Thus it is said. Thus, because one reaches completion, one can temporarily do without practice. Ultimately, because one recognizes the enjoyment body, one will enjoy in the pure land of the enjoyment body. Fourth, the appearance of the exhaustion of dharmata is that the increase and exhaustion of external experiential visions, the exhaustion of the dharma of the internal illusory body, and the exhaustion of the mind of secret conceptual thoughts, so all deluded appearances are self-purified, so appearance and non-appearance.
