Furthermore, if you add four kinds of faults, slandering, and denigration on top of these, a total of twelve, it will also become sixteen kinds of karma. The eight inversions are: slandering and praising the black and white sides, disturbing the minds of the virtuous, destroying the assemblies of the faithful, abandoning the guru, deity, and Dharma siblings, and separating from the sacred mandala. These are said to be the eight inversions. Such subtle non-virtuous actions should be abandoned like poison, because their power of transformation is very great, and even small non-virtuous actions will produce great suffering. As it says in the sutra: Even doing small sins will cause great fear and destruction in the next world, like poison entering the body. The great scholar said: Although the action is small, the result is great, what need is there to mention accumulating great good and evil! Second, regarding the boundary: In general, actions of the three doors that are motivated by the three poisons and harm others, along with their basis, are non-virtuous actions. Actions of the three doors that are motivated by a mind without the three poisons and benefit others, along with their result, are virtuous actions. In particular, all virtues that are grasped by the wisdom that realizes the absence of inherent existence are uncontaminated virtues, which are conducive to liberation; those that are not grasped by it are contaminated virtues, which are called conducive to merit. Third, regarding heavy and light: Due to differences in the object and motivation, such as intensity, non-virtuous actions have three levels: heavy, medium, and light, and virtuous actions also have three levels: great, medium, and small. Fourth, regarding the result: Among contaminated non-virtuous actions, the heavy ones lead to hell, the medium ones to hungry ghosts, and the light ones to animals, which are the results of maturation. Being fond of killing, etc., whatever non-virtuous action one does, one will be born there, which is the result of acting in accordance with the cause. Because of killing, having a short life and many diseases, etc., is the result of experiencing in accordance with the cause. The result of dominance ripens in the place, being born in inauspicious places with many thorns and unripe fruits. Among contaminated virtuous actions, the great ones lead to rebirth in the higher realm gods, the medium ones to rebirth in the desire realm gods, and the small ones to rebirth as humans, which are the results of maturation. The results of acting in accordance with the cause and dominance, etc., are also the opposite of the previous ones and appear.

This should be done. The uncontaminated virtuous result is what bestows all the bliss of the path and fruit of liberation and nirvana. That is, if one has a virtuous mind in all three stages of the preliminary, main, and subsequent practices, then it is definitely purely virtuous karma, and its ripening will only bring happiness. On the other hand, giving alms out of a desire for fame, etc., is having a dark mind but a white action; or beating and scolding for the sake of benefit, and speaking unpleasant words, etc., is having a white mind but a dark action. It is said that these also alternately produce happiness and suffering, so in order to accomplish purely white actions, one should be like a householder who farms without weariness; for great virtuous deeds, one should be like a hero who fearlessly enters the battlefield; one should train without interruption, like turning a wheel of fire. Fourth, the instruction on contemplating the faults of samsara: The key point book says, "Impose the suffering of samsara on your own mind." Therefore, think like this: Even if one is born in the three lower realms due to non-virtuous karma, one may think there is nothing to fear. Such a reckless thought is because one has not contemplated it now. If one contemplates it, not to mention personally experiencing suffering, even hearing about suffering or seeing an image drawn in a picture, one cannot bear it, and one's heart will race. The reason for this is: If one is born in hell, the various sufferings of the hot hells, such as on a ground of red-hot iron, or in a place where fire pits and flames blaze fiercely.
