For the guru who has only attained stability in ego-grasping, etc., according to the categories of disciples to be tamed, for those of lower capacity, colored powders; for those of middling capacity, painted images; for those of higher capacity, mandalas or similar objects of focus are used as slight supports. For those even greater and more intelligent, the very best of the fortunate ones, the method of empowerment is based on the guru's body mandala. Regarding the first three, in the empowerment rituals of the Eight Commands (བཀའ་བརྒྱད་) Peaceful and Wrathful Deities (བདེ་འདུས་), it says: In which mandala is the empowerment conferred? The superior, middling, and inferior are spoken of. Flowers, painted images, and colored powders, Empowerment is conferred in the three mandalas. Regarding the latter, Drilbupa says: What is the nature of the two artificial ones? That is desired according to the disciples to be tamed. That is not the object of accomplishment for the wise. Having said that, for those wise ones who understand the body mandala as the mandala, the object to be accomplished is: From this, all beings are naturally, The non-dual mandala of accomplishment. And from the Dakini Heart Drop (མཁའ་འགྲོ་སྙིང་ཏིག་): From the beginning, one's own body is the mandala, The state is also to be shown. Like that. Of these, for the time being, taking the example of the colored powder mandala, there are three aspects: the construction of the mandala, the practice, and the method of entering it. The first is: From the empowerment ritual: The earth ritual and the preparations, And the sequence of constructing the mandala, etc. Therefore, on the first night, the earth ritual is: If it is a new dwelling, in order to examine whether that place is suitable for constructing a mandala, one examines the earth, sky, and space, that is, the foundation of the earth, and also examines its own characteristics by digging and observing whether there are thorns, etc. If it is suitable, one pays the price to the owner of the earth and the foundation, and requests permission by stating the truth. Then, one purifies the faults of the earth with substances and pure mantras, drives away obstacles, and takes possession of it. One protects it with the sequence of outer and inner boundaries, thereby eliminating the conceptualizations of earth and earth-grasping. On the second night, there are three types of preparations. Among them, the deity preparation is: In their respective places, one makes drops of perfume equal to the number of deities, then arranges tormas, invites the deities, offers and praises them as they reside in the sky above the base of the mandala, and informs them of their arrival in the morning. The vase preparation is: One fills a vase with the characteristics and implements, fills it with twenty-five substances and pure water, and visualizes the complete mandala in the victorious vase, and Hayagriva in the activity vase.

At the end of generation, absorption, offering, praise, and recitation, perform light absorption, thereby empowering the vase water. Preparation of the disciple: Outside the curtain, the disciple offers a mandala and prays. Generate joy in the secret mantra, grant permission, and then perform refuge, bodhicitta, and taking vows. Visualize oneself as the deity, bless the three doors as the three vajras, and make offerings. To examine the karmic connection for accomplishment, perform the two methods of throwing the tooth stick and examining dreams. As a preliminary to the latter, pour a mouthful of water to clarify the dream. Tie a protection cord to prevent obscurations. Give a cushion and mat of kusha grass to prevent confusion. Some consider the four, such as the tooth stick, as preparations for the respective four empowerments, but this is not certain, as they originate from the rituals of the lower tantras, etc. If one has not studied well beforehand, also explain the Dharma to prevent regression. Have the disciple perform the actual dream examination, and if the dream is bad, perform a ritual of reversal the next morning. If it is seen as suitable through examination, construct the mandala. Transform the five aggregates into the five families, and use the five amritas as purifiers, spreading them evenly on the base of the mandala without leaving gaps. Use a thread that has not been used by others, with a length twice the size of the mandala and a thickness one-twentieth of the door width, using five colors of thread, as well as precious gem powder, etc., or immaculate five-colored powder pigments. Visualize the five heroic grains as the five families, dissolving them into one's own body, visualizing it as the deity, and thinking that it dissolves into the essence of bodhicitta, becoming one with the thread and pigments. Similar to this, the special feature is to think that the thread is one with bodhicitta, touching the space of the mother, focusing on the thread attendant visualized as the mother, and then drawing two Brahma lines, two corner lines, and four root lines, for a total of eight major lines, without confusing the directions. Draw the original line in the space above, and then draw the activity lines on the ground in order. Regarding the size of the mandala, it is not mentioned here, so it can be adjusted according to what is said in other scriptures, such as one cubit or four cubits, etc., as appropriate. In the empowerment ritual, it says, "Understand the halls, etc., as with others," which is an explanation of the halls. And here it says, "Having a perimeter, truncated corners, and four doors," although there are also cases where the two sides without a hall are like swamps.
