Thus, whatever peaceful mandala is practiced, this is the summary of the meditation sequence. As the Sutra of Miraculous Deeds says: "Beings are greatly tormented by desire, Because they practice the gate of peace, The accumulation of merit is greatly increased, Non-conceptual, non-objective, suchness itself, Spontaneously abiding, compassion arises, The cause, the supreme letter of concentration, The nature that generates all, In the mandala of the five mother elements, The wisdom palace is spontaneously complete, From the seed arising on the seat, One family, five families, a hundred families, The body and the forty-two condensed, Soft, slender, entwined, and youthful in form, Clear, radiant, beautiful, and majestic, Names and signs, uninterrupted Dharma, Arising from self-awareness, bodhicitta, Invited from the sphere, merged without separation, With non-duality, I prostrate with reverence, Offering praise, delighting, entrusting activities, Through the recitation of secret mantras, Approaching and obtaining accomplishments, Asking for forgiveness and making aspirations, Without object, without thought, free from attachment, Dedicating the root of virtue in the nature of reality, This is the peaceful, pacifying deity, The miraculous deeds of accomplishment are complete, For the sake of subduing other desirous ones, The Buddha dances with delight." As it is said. The second general meaning is also for the wrathful ones. As the Manual of Practical Instructions says: "In the practice of fierce wrathful ones, As before, bound by five stages, The basis and practice are complete in five, Generation and completion, great, medium, and small, Preliminary practice and special practice, Bound by five distinctions." Thus, of the five, the first, for the sake of delighting in elaboration, the great generation and completion is: externally, a precious palace, inside a courtyard complete with characteristics, within a grid of nine squares bound by four pillars. As the root tantra says: "From that, the mandala Nine great ones, All with four-spoked wheels, With corner breaks, intermediate courtyards, and four doors." Thus, the nine palaces of the charnel ground, the central chief, the Great Supreme One with twenty-one heads, father and mother, and the chief of the eight mandalas of the directions and intermediate directions, such as Yangdak. Except for the vidyadharas, all have three faces and six arms, each with their own consort. The assembly of their retinues is: the eighth chapter of the tantra, and what is directly shown in the practical method, is the retinue of the Great Supreme One on the spokes.
