It is also because of the prohibition. In the "Detailed Commentary," it says: "Like these three hundred and sixty, I, with the three supreme Vajras, Will not let the prohibited matters be reversed, As proclaimed like the earth." Thus it is said. Although vows and precepts are similar in essence but differ in emphasis, having a vow does not necessarily mean having a precept. For example, in the case of the ten secrets, it is said: "The place, time, companion, and substances for practice, Should be kept secret and practiced in between." The vow mentioned in this context is not a precept. Thirdly, regarding the essence, there are four aspects: defining mantra precepts, classifying them, explaining the greatness of vows, and their various names. First, what is the definition of mantra precepts? The great bliss wisdom, possessed by the special skillful means that act as a restraint, is the discipline that restrains the subtle habitual tendencies of the three doors and the conceptual thoughts of grasping at characteristics, along with the mind that possesses seeds, and the discipline newly obtained from the self-cause empowerment. Secondly, regarding the classification, there are four types of mantra precepts: Kriya, Charya, Yoga, and Anuttarayoga. The definitions of each are as follows: By taking the bliss of looking, the bliss of smiling, and the bliss of holding hands as the path in sequence, the wisdom that purifies attachment, with the skillful means held by one's own continuum, is the mind with seeds that restrains the habitual tendencies of the three doors and conceptual thoughts of grasping at characteristics, and the discipline obtained from the self-cause, relying on the empowerment of one's own tantra. The definition of the Anuttarayoga mantra precept is: By taking the bliss of the union of the two organs as the path, the wisdom that purifies attachment, with the special skillful means held by one's own continuum, is the mind with seeds that restrains the habitual tendencies of the three doors and conceptual thoughts of grasping at characteristics, and the discipline obtained from the self-cause, the empowerment of the Anuttara. If classified, there are two types: the precepts obtained from the vase empowerment, and the precepts obtained from the higher empowerment. The definition of the first is: During the practice, promising the general and specific vows of the five families, and during the main practice, the discipline newly obtained from the vase empowerment and its retinue. The definition of the second is: The special skillful means, the generation stage, is able to restrain the conceptual thoughts of grasping at ordinary appearances, the mind with seeds. The cause of self-attainment depends on any higher empowerment.

喜金刚续中说:诸佛之戒是,诶avam(藏文:ཨེ་ཝཾ།,梵文天城体:एवं,梵文罗马拟音:evam,汉语字面意思:如是),完全安住。诶avam(藏文:ཨེ་ཝཾ།,梵文天城体:एवं,梵文罗马拟音:evam,汉语字面意思:如是)之大乐,从灌顶中如实知。

What are the precepts that protect from the misconception of clinging to the mundane? With the special means of wisdom, self-blessed, binding the mind together with its seed in the nature of clear emptiness, is the secret empowerment's precept. And what are those? With the special means of wisdom, symbolized by the bliss of dissolution in the conventional, binding the mind together with its seed in the nature of bliss-emptiness, the exemplary wisdom, is the wisdom empowerment's precept. And what are those? With the special means of wisdom, the coemergent wisdom of unchanging great bliss, the union, Binding the mind together with its seed in the nature of the ultimate truth, the symbolized, is the characteristic of the fourth empowerment's mantra precept. From the Hevajra Tantra: The precepts of all Buddhas are, evam (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evam, Literal Chinese meaning: thus), perfectly abiding. The great bliss of evam (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evam, Literal Chinese meaning: thus), is truly known from empowerment. Therefore, it is said. Second, the greatness of samaya lies in the vastness of its scope and the inclusion of all disciplines. The first point is: If one possesses the confidence of realization and familiarity with the nature of reality, one abides in the great equal samaya, or it is called certainty in the unsurpassed vehicle. No matter how the three doors are practiced, no biased thoughts arise. Such a person, seized by such confidence, no matter what actions and afflictions they engage in, they do not cling to them as if engaging in illusory emanations. Therefore, on top of not accumulating those obscurations and habitual tendencies, they will perfect the two accumulations, and all the Pratimoksha, Bodhisattva, outer and inner tantra vows will become pure. If one is certain in the unsurpassed vehicle, even if one engages in all afflictions and actions, one will not accumulate karma, but will perfect the accumulations, and the precepts will be perfectly complete. So it is said. The second point is: In the unsurpassed supreme samaya, the precepts of the empowerment of discipline, and the countless vows, are all included and completely pure. So it is said. These three precepts are contradictory in form, complete in essence, and transformed in state. The first point is: In the form of taking the vows, the Pratimoksha vow is for as long as one lives, the Bodhisattva vow is rooted in Bodhicitta, and the mantra vow is the difference of promising until samsara is empty. In the method of learning, the Pratimoksha vow is to learn the seven abandonments of the outer body and speech, the Bodhisattva vow is to mainly abandon the three actions of the inner mind, to learn compassion, through the confidence of realization and familiarity.
