It seems that the mind does not stay still for even a moment, and thoughts become more numerous than before. However, it is not that they have become more numerous; it is that before, we did not count the thoughts, so we did not notice them. Now that we recognize them, it is a result of having somewhat grasped the mind, he said. The second is the experience of attainment: Without looking at its faults or virtues, continuously meditate on it. It is like water flowing from a narrow hole, where thoughts continuously arise, and for a moment, there is a state of non-thought, a peaceful stillness. This is called the experience of attainment, or the experience of thoughts resting. The third is the experience of habituation: Continuously meditate on it, like the behavior of an old person who cannot make many movements, or like a bird caught by an old hawk, mostly remaining in a state of non-thought, with only occasional vague thoughts arising. This is called the experience of habituation, or the experience of thoughts being exhausted, he said. The fourth is the experience of stability: From then on, continue to meditate for a long time, like a small lake stirred by a breeze. Mostly remaining in a vast state of non-thought, clear and bright, only slightly disturbed by strong circumstances. This is called the experience of stability, or the experience of thoughts being slightly disturbed, he said. The fifth is the experience of completion: Now, strive even harder to meditate, like an ocean without waves, or like a great mountain that remains unmoved, unharmed by any circumstances, and moreover, it can benefit in return. Letting go or holding, staying or going, one attains freedom. This is called the experience of completion, or the experience of attaining freedom, he said. To briefly explain this path of certainty and completion: In the Stages of the Path, it says, 'The way to ripen existence in stages, is established with five branches of entry. Whatever things are all self-knowing, death is ultimate truth, birth in between is conventional. The three stages of birth are non-dual meaning.' Therefore, it shows the complete path of training the three, birth, death, and bardo, as one. Death is the path that accords with clear light, the great emptiness. Likewise, bardo and compassion are illusion. The three stages of birth are the same as the mudras. The mudras have elaboration, accumulating resources, there are five in total. Among them, the coarse is trained through the generation stage, and the subtle is trained through the completion stage. There are two ways of training. First, the way of training through the generation stage is the clear light of death.

The path that accords with quiescence is the great emptiness. When sentient beings die, after all the stages of dissolution, both internal and external, are complete, the clear light of the Dharmakaya of death arises. As it is said: Appearance dissolves and concept dissolves. Subtle dissolves and gross dissolves. By habituating to the dissolution, the clear light of one's own nature arises. As it is said. Like this, if we explain the manner of dissolution of gross and subtle in detail, first the gross stages dissolve into their own nature. As a sign of the dissolution of the skandha of form, the family of Vairochana, into clear light, all the limbs become subtle, and the body becomes weak and powerless. As mirror-like wisdom dissolves, the mind becomes unclear and dim. As the earth element dissolves, the whole body becomes dry. As the eye faculty dissolves, the eyes do not move and become round. As the object of form dissolves, the body loses its luster and becomes weak. Thus, the family of Vairochana dissolves into reality. Then, as the skandha of feeling, the family of Ratnasambhava, dissolves, one does not experience feelings. As the wisdom of equality dissolves, one does not remember the three feelings. As the water element dissolves, the saliva, mucus, urine, semen, blood, etc., of one's own body become dry. As the ear faculty dissolves, one does not hear internal or external sounds. As the object of sound dissolves, one does not hear the sound of one's own body. Then, as the skandha of perception, the family of Padma, dissolves, one does not remember sentient beings such as the two legs. As discriminating wisdom dissolves, one does not remember the names of parents, siblings, etc. As the fire element dissolves, food does not digest. As the nose faculty dissolves, the upward-moving wind moves slowly. As the object of smell dissolves, one's own body has no smell. Then, as the skandha of volition, the family of Karma, dissolves, one does not engage in all the actions of the body. As accomplishing wisdom dissolves, one does not remember worldly affairs and needs. As the wind element dissolves, the ten winds move from their respective places. As the tongue faculty dissolves, the tongue becomes thick and short, and the root becomes blue. As the object of taste dissolves, one does not experience the six tastes. Thus, after the twenty gross natures have dissolved, the manner of dissolution of the subtle inner four elements is: From the great play of wisdom: First earth dissolves into water, water dissolves into fire, and fire dissolves into wind.
