and make it complete. Having done so, by teaching the Dharma, one ripens the minds of those to be tamed in accordance with their fortune into the three enlightenments. As it says in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "Giving diminishes opposing factors, Possesses non-conceptual wisdom, Completely fulfills all desires, Ripens sentient beings in three ways." Similarly, "Discipline diminishes opposing factors," and the remaining five should be applied accordingly. The opposing factors of each in order are: miserliness, moral transgression, anger, laziness, distraction, and deficient wisdom, the six. The activities are: material things and so forth, giving pleases the mind, enduring harm to others and striving to benefit others, distinguishing between what to take and what to abandon through miraculous powers, completely fulfilling the desires of others. Thus it is said. Second, Pa Ra Ma (Sanskrit: परम, parama) means supreme, and Ita (Sanskrit: इत, ita) means gone. Therefore, since it surpasses all the virtues of worldly beings and solitary realizers and goes to the other shore, it is called "Paramita." Third, the six perfections, such as giving. The Great Omniscient One said: "The sons of the Victorious Ones should learn all things, but primarily they should learn the six perfections." Thus it is said. If each of the six is divided into six, such as giving, then the giving of the six perfections is established, such as the giving of giving. Similarly, practicing without being tainted by one's own opposing factors is one's own discipline. Practicing with endurance of one's own hardships is one's own patience. Practicing with joy is one's own diligence. Thus, when the mind is focused by diligence and does not wander elsewhere, practicing is one's own meditation. Practicing the six perfections without conceptualizing the three spheres is one's own wisdom, which becomes thirty-six in total. Thus, the Ornament for Clear Realization says: "Those individual giving and so forth, condensed into six aspects, whatever is the armor-like practice, is explained as six sets of six as it is." Thus it is said. Fourth, all the practices of a Bodhisattva, in relation to being included in the three trainings, are determined to be six perfections, because giving separates one from attachment to enjoyment, thereby perfecting discipline, and from that one becomes endowed with the four qualities of a renunciate, which is patience. These three are the superior discipline from the perspective of cause, nature, and characteristic.

are summarized into the training of discipline. Samadhi is summarized into the training of concentration, and wisdom is summarized into the training of higher wisdom. Diligence becomes the helper of all of these. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Having mastered the three trainings, the Victorious Ones truly explained the six perfections. The first three are divided by two, the last two are divided by two, and one (diligence) belongs to all three." Fifth, because the latter arises from the former, it is a cause and effect relationship; and because of the order of before and after, inferior and superior, coarse and subtle, the order is arranged in this way. As it says in the same text: "The latter arises dependent on the former, because it abides in inferior and superior, and because of coarse and subtle, these are taught in order." Sixth, giving charity without expecting reward or ripening, guarding morality without hoping for future happiness, cultivating patience without hatred towards all sentient beings, diligently striving with natural joy to gather all virtuous qualities of oneself and others, abiding in meditation that eliminates the absorptions of form and formlessness, and cultivating wisdom inseparable from skillful means and great compassion. As it says in the same text: "Charity without expectation, morality without desire for rebirth, patience towards all, diligence gathering all qualities, likewise meditation that is not formless, with wisdom endowed with skillful means, the steadfast ones truly practice the six perfections." All of these must also be practiced with the six perfections: the excellent basis is having the mind of enlightenment, the excellent entity is that charity and so on are not just one-sided, but apply to all foundations, the excellent purpose is to work for the benefit of all sentient beings, the excellent means is being seized by the wisdom that does not conceive of the three spheres, the excellent dedication is dedicating to unsurpassed enlightenment, and the excellent purity is acting as the direct antidote to the two obscurations. Seventh, the qualities of each of the six perfections, and the result of practicing them. First, there are four aspects: because it aims at complete enlightenment for the sake of others, it is vast; because it is free from its respective opposing factors such as expecting reward and ripening, it is without contamination; all sentient beings' higher realms and definite goodness, enlightenment,
