What good does it do to perfectly keep the precepts of liberation and discipline? You should quickly generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment and propagate the Great Vehicle. Then, whatever non-virtuous deeds you have committed through body, speech, and mind due to afflictions will not ripen, but will be purified. Saying this is the third of the root downfalls of a bodhisattva who is a beginner. Thus it is said. The object here is: a bodhisattva, whether ordained or not, who wishes to learn the Pratimoksha. The perception is: perceiving that individual liberation is not necessary for the path of the Great Vehicle. The action is: saying that the Pratimoksha is not necessary for attaining Buddhahood, and even if afflictions arise, they can be destroyed by the power of the mind of enlightenment. The end is generating the thought that individual liberation is not something a bodhisattva should learn. This is also abandoning one aspect of the path of the Great Vehicle, namely abandoning the precepts of comprehensive discipline. Therefore, the fourth downfall of the ground is abandoning the Great Vehicle. The fourth downfall is: In short, sons of good families, if another bodhisattva who is a beginner says this: Sons of good families, do not listen to the words of the Hearer Vehicle, do not read them, do not impart them to others. Abandon the words of the Hearer Vehicle. By doing so, you will not obtain great fruit, and on that basis, you will not be able to completely eliminate afflictions. Have faith in these words of the Great Vehicle, listen to the Great Vehicle, propagate the Great Vehicle, and also impart them to others. Then you will pacify all the paths of bad migrations and bad destinies. You will become perfectly enlightened in unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. If they listen to his words and adopt such a view, then both will commit a root downfall. This is the fourth of the root downfalls of a bodhisattva who is a beginner. Thus it is said. The basis here is the Hearer's Pitaka. The perception is that both perceive it as the Hearer's Pitaka. The thought is that the Hearer Vehicle cannot abandon attachment, etc.

Fifth, thinking that the Mahayana should be abandoned. The means is to say that the Hearer Vehicle cannot eliminate afflictions, so one should only study the Mahayana. The limit is to have the view that there is no path of abandonment in the Hearer Vehicle. Therefore, merely having such a view will cause one to fall, so it is necessary to say that this is the cause of others developing this view. However, merely the speaker having this view will cause them to fall. Therefore, it should be known that the speaker falls first, and then others will fall later. The means by which the advisor themselves falls is to rely on seemingly valid reasons and to keep in mind the reason that the Hearer Vehicle has no path of abandonment. In this way, the third downfall also seems to cause both supports to fall. This is also abandoning one aspect of the Great Vehicle, so it is the fourth downfall of the ground. The fifth downfall is, in short, furthermore, initial Bodhisattvas engage in double-tonguedness, teaching differently, and for the sake of speaking, sound, verses, gain, and respect, they merely teach, recite, read, explain, and obtain the Great Vehicle, and also teach it to others, saying: "I am a Mahayana practitioner, but others are not." They say this, and because they have obtained enjoyment and complete enjoyment from others, for the sake of gain and respect, they are jealous of others, causing them to quarrel, and they speak ill of them, slander them, belittle them, and completely slander them. To those who prostrate to them, they also praise themselves out of jealousy, proclaiming themselves to have superhuman qualities. Therefore, they will be defeated by that thing. This is said to be the first downfall explained in the "Ground." In the "Ground," it is only said that one is overly attached to gain and respect, praises oneself, slanders others, and the Dharma of the place of defeat for a Bodhisattva. However, in this "Akashagarbha Sutra," it is said that proclaiming superhuman qualities is praising oneself. In the "Ground," whether proclaiming superhuman qualities should be considered a branch of downfall, or
