It is said that after turning away from the earth, the other three also become Buddhas. However, even after attaining great forbearance, one does not enter the state of a Pratyekabuddha, because immediately after great forbearance, there is the supreme Dharma, and immediately after that, one attains the noble path. This is because one does not enter another vehicle from the noble path. As the Treasury of Knowledge states: 'The great realm of desire is a place of suffering; that is just one moment; likewise, all supreme dharmas are the five aggregates.' So it is said. According to the Mind-Only school, there are cases where Stream-enterers and Once-returners enter the state of a Pratyekabuddha, but after attaining Non-return, there is no entry into that state, because after attaining it, one does not take birth in the desire realm through karma and afflictions. According to the Middle Way's own system, even after attaining Non-return, there is still entry into the path of a Pratyekabuddha, because a Hearer who is a practitioner on the path of cultivation, of uncertain lineage, having abandoned the ninth level of afflictions in the desire realm, may engage in hearing and contemplating the selflessness of phenomena due to encountering a virtuous friend of the Pratyekabuddha path. Secondly, there are two systems: the Realist system and the Middle Way system. The first is: When a Hearer enters the path of a Pratyekabuddha, they enter from the remainder of the path that has already been traversed, because Hearers and Pratyekabuddhas differ only in the sharpness or dullness of their faculties, and are the same in being Lesser Vehicle practitioners. So they say. The second is: When a Hearer enters the path of a Pratyekabuddha, they must enter from the accumulation path of a Pratyekabuddha, because in order to realize the ultimate selflessness of phenomena, one must first engage in the path of cultivation, which involves constantly meditating on what has already been realized, and so forth. Secondly, there are two aspects: definition and classification. The first is: the manifest realization of the Middle Vehicle, which realizes the selflessness of phenomena. Secondly, there are two paths: the path that leads to the state of a Pratyekabuddha and the path that is traversed. The first is: the manifest realization of the Middle Vehicle, which dwells in the lineage that leads to the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha. Example: such as the four paths of learning of a Pratyekabuddha. The definition of the second is: the manifest realization of the Middle Vehicle, which has already traversed the path to the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha. Example: such as the manifest realization of an Arhat Pratyekabuddha. Thirdly, there are six differences: the difference in the way of traversing the path, the difference in the time of accumulating merit, the difference in the qualities of the result, the difference in abandonment and realization, the difference in the basis, and the difference in the way of establishing the result. The first

O! There are two types of Hinayana schools: and the unique self-school. The first is: Like a rhinoceros horn, one accumulates merit for a hundred kalpas on the path of accumulation. At the time of the final existence, one gradually goes through the four dhyanas, and relying on the peak of the fourth dhyana, from the heat to the non-residual nirvana, one attains enlightenment on a single cushion. As it is said in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Between the Hearer and the Rhinoceros Horn Bodhi, the peak of the four dhyanas is the single support, before these, the liberation shares are the same." Because it is said so. The practitioner of accumulation is: Through the way of staying together with other Dharma friends, at the time of the last existence, without relying on the teachings of other teachers, one realizes enlightenment by oneself. These are are the schools of the Sunlight Department. The Kashmir Sarvastivadins believe that there is only someone like a rhinoceros horn. The second is: like a rhinoceros horn and, the two ways of practicing the path of collective practice. The first is: A person whose lineage is determined in his own country, in the stage of the path of accumulation, accumulates merit for a hundred kalpas, such as pleasing the Buddha, and after being proficient in the six things to be proficient in, he makes three vows at the time of death, and then in the next life, at the time of the last existence, relying on the power of the previous vows, without relying on the teachings of other teachers, he realizes the liberation of abandoning samsara. The six things are: the five aggregates, the eighteen realms, the twelve places, the twelve links of dependent origination, the distinction between cause and effect of karma, and the four noble truths, these six meanings. The three vows are: May I be born in a world realm where there are no Buddhas and Hearers, and there, without relying on other teachers, I can realize enlightenment myself, and after attaining enlightenment, may I be loving to other disciples in the way of the body, and not be loving in the way of speech. This is what it says. The second is: without having experienced the Hearer Vehicle before, and, the two ways of practicing the collective practice path of having experienced the Hearer Vehicle before. The first is: Some people whose lineage is uncertain in their own country, in the stage of the path of accumulation, rely on a superior Dharma friend, listen to the Dharma, and accumulate merit for a hundred kalpas in the way of proper attention, and are proficient in the six things to be proficient in, and make vows at the time of death.
