This is the view of Nilung Rik Gyatso (Nilung Rinchen Gyatso). Others have many different views on this. The Yogachara Madhyamikas admit that the nature of emptiness can be known. The worldly conventional Madhyamikas admit that its nature is non-affirming negation, like space. The Madhyamikas who speak of the absence of inherent existence, although there is no difference in the ultimate truth, are established in the conventional truth, like an illusion, thus establishing their own system's pledge, as it is said: Appearing in this way is not denying the appearance itself, but negating the clinging to truth. And so on. The Prasangikas, on the other hand, refute only by Prasanga, even denying the admitted conventional truth. As it is said in the *Refutation of Arguments*: Because I have no tenet, I am faultless. And so on. These two consider that all dharmas, as they appear, are merely appearances, empty of their own nature, and therefore consider non-affirming negation emptiness as the ultimate truth. The Mind-Only Madhyamikas consider that the intention of the last turning of the wheel is the nature of mind, the realm of ultimate truth, in this nature there are no stains to be abandoned, nor are there new qualities to be acquired, because it is naturally pure and qualities are spontaneously accomplished. As it is said in this: There is nothing to be removed from this, there is nothing to be placed. Seeing reality as it is, seeing reality and being liberated. Thus they believe. Now, to say a little about my own thoughts, the intention of the Mother is the wheel of no characteristics, the intention of the middle wheel. There, all dharmas are truly determined as self-empty. In order to determine it, there are five great reasonings: the reasoning of examining the essence as being separate from one and many, the reasoning of the vajra sliver examining the cause, the reasoning of examining the result as existence and non-existence, arising and ceasing, the four great reasonings of examining the arising and ceasing of both cause and effect. These four great reasonings are the reasoning that eliminates the extreme of superimposition of existence. Since inherent existence is not established, therefore it is not non-existent in name, therefore cutting off the elaboration of both existence and non-existence is the reasoning of dependent origination. Thus, with the five great reasonings, all dharmas are determined as the Middle Way free from extremes. And the way to cut off elaboration is self-emptiness.

Among the two, self-emptiness and other-emptiness, here we assert self-emptiness. What is that? It is to abandon the grasping of conceptual fabrication, not meditating on anything, and thus meditating on profound emptiness; not seeing anything, and thus considering that one has realized Suchness. As Sgra gcan 'dzin praised the Mother: "Beyond speech, thought, and expression, gone beyond wisdom, unborn, unceasing, the nature of space itself, the realm of individual self-awareness and wisdom." The Eight Thousand Stanza states: "There is no mind on the mind; the nature of the mind is luminosity." Although the way to ascertain the view is like this, when training on the path, one must train by viewing it as the union of the two truths. As the Madhyamaka Two Truths states: "Without relying on conventions, the ultimate cannot be taught; without realizing the ultimate, nirvana cannot be attained." Therefore, all appearances in samsara are false illusions, and because the basis of illusion is appearance, one must train in the manner of illusion, where appearances lack inherent existence. This is because the ultimate truth cannot be found as something different from the nature of conventional truth. As the Commentary on the Mind of Enlightenment states: "The ultimate is not aimed at as something different from the conventional; the conventional is said to be emptiness; emptiness alone is the conventional; because without it, it is certain not to arise, just like things that are made and impermanent." Having ascertained it in this way, if one puts the meaning into practice, then at the stage of the cause, it becomes the union of the two truths; at the stage of the path, it becomes the union of the two accumulations; and at the stage of the result, it becomes the union of the two kayas. Second, the four truths as the object of focus: Truth means that which is not deceptive. The appearance of the three realms arising from the interdependent origination of karma and afflictions is also produced from the power of the infallibility of cause and effect; these are the first two truths. Striving for the means of enlightenment as the cause, and attaining the state of liberation as the result, is also the truth of non-deception, which is the truth of the noble ones, the latter two truths. Among these, the definition of the first, the truth of suffering, is: whichever of the two, suffering and origin, is the result arising from its own cause, karma and afflictions. That is, the cause is the origin of suffering; from afflictions (the three poisons and the five poisons) the result arises, wandering in the state of samsara in the three realms, experiencing the karma and suffering of the six realms of beings.
