Chapter. Similarly, the samadhi of equal origin that wishes to be free from suffering, the samadhi of equal origin that wishes not to be separated from happiness, and the samadhi of equal origin that wishes to be free from attachment, aversion, closeness, and distance. As the Ornament Sutra says: "Loving beings, intending separation, intending inseparable happiness, I prostrate to you who intend benefit." Thus it is. From the perspective of types, each of these has three: limitless love focused on sentient beings, limitless love focused on Dharma, and limitless love focused on the absence of focus. The definitions of these: What is the samadhi of limitless love? It is the samadhi of equal origin that focuses on sentient beings seeking happiness and wishes to be united with happiness. What is that? It is that which focuses on sentient beings from the perspective of realizing the selflessness of the person. What is that? It is that which focuses on sentient beings from the perspective of realizing the absence of reality. Similarly, the other three limitlessnesses are also like this. What is the basis of differentiation? It is that which focuses on sentient beings tormented by suffering and wishes to be separated from it. It is that which focuses on sentient beings possessing happiness and wishes not to be separated from it. It is that which focuses on sentient beings possessing attachment and aversion and wishes to be separated from it. This is how to infer. Fourth, the reason for establishing the four limitless samadhis is that their opposing factors are four: harmful intent, harm, displeasure, and the manifestation of attachment and aversion. To counteract these, the four limitlessnesses are established in sequence. As the Treasury of Knowledge says: "Limitlessness is four, for the sake of counteracting harm and so on." Thus it is. Fifth, the four limitlessnesses focused on sentient beings exist from the stage of not entering the path. That which is focused on Dharma exists from the stage of not entering the path. That which is focused on the absence of focus exists from the Mahayana path of accumulation. Fourth, in the Sutra Requested by Ajatashatru, it says: "Having equal loving-kindness towards all sentient beings, constantly holding the mind of all-knowing, not abandoning sentient beings with compassion, having no weariness in samsara with joy, abandoning all faults with great equanimity." Therefore, it is said like this. Incidentally, explaining the absorption of dhyana and formless absorption. Among them, dhyana

解释四种(禅定)。解释四种无色(禅定)的自性。从那(四种禅定)延伸出来的有支分、等持、烦恼、清净、以及程度的解释等六个部分。第一部分中,初禅是:不与欲界的烦恼相应,也不缘于欲界的对境,因此远离了欲望,远离了一切不善之法,是欲望的对治,由寻伺所生,从远离(欲界)所生,具有身心极度调柔的喜乐。二禅是:视寻伺为扰乱心绪的过患,从而止息寻伺,远离散乱的对境,具有专注一境的对境,因此是寂静的。内心极度澄净,远离寻伺,寻伺无法找到机会,因此心相续成为一体。三禅是:由于喜也是粗大的,因此以舍受来对待,具有正念和明觉,具有身体和意乐的安乐,以及极度调柔的安乐。四禅是:远离苦乐和不悦,具有忆念清净的舍受,具有感受上的舍受。第二,无色界的空无边处是:对花园、宫殿和遮蔽物等各种各样的念想没有贪执,因此这些念想不会显现,从而缘于并且信解“虚空无边”。识无边处是:以何种识认为虚空无边,就信解唯有那个识是无边的,从而在一切时分遮止虚空的念想而修习。无所有处是:从识无边处更进一步,对于有色和无色的对境什么也没有找到,从而缘于并且修习“什么也没有”。有顶是:视“什么也没有”的念想为粗大,从而遮止它,并且由于先前已经遮止了“什么也没有”的念想,因此没有舍弃非有想非无想的细微念想。第二,关于支分,初禅的正行等持具有五支:对治的支分是寻和伺两种;利益的支分是喜和乐两种;安住的支分是定,因此具有五支。二禅中,对治的支分是内心极度澄净;利益的支分是喜和乐两种;

Explanation of the four (dhyanas). Explanation of the nature of the four formless (dhyanas). What extends from them are the limbs, samapatti, afflictions, purification, and explanation of the extent, these six parts. In the first part, the first dhyana is: not associated with the afflictions of the desire realm, and not focused on the objects of the desire realm, therefore it is separated from desire, separated from all non-virtuous dharmas, it is the antidote to desire, born from investigation and analysis, born from separation (from the desire realm), possessing the joy and happiness of body and mind that are extremely pliant. The second dhyana is: seeing investigation and analysis as the fault of disturbing the mind, therefore reversing from them, separated from the objects of distraction, possessing the object of practicing with one-pointedness, therefore it is peaceful. The inner is extremely clear, separated from investigation and analysis, and because they cannot find an opportunity, the mind stream becomes one. The third dhyana is: because joy is also coarse, therefore it is treated with equanimity, possessing mindfulness and awareness, possessing the happiness of body and mind, and the happiness of extreme pliancy. The fourth dhyana is: separated from pleasure and pain and displeasure, possessing the equanimity of pure mindfulness, possessing equanimity in feeling. Second, the formless realm of infinite space is: without attachment to various thoughts such as gardens, palaces, and obscurations, therefore these thoughts do not appear, thus focusing on and believing "space is infinite." Infinite consciousness is: whatever consciousness thinks that space is infinite, believing that only that consciousness is infinite, thus reversing the thought of space in all times and meditating. Nothingness is: progressing further from infinite consciousness, not finding any object of form or formlessness, thus focusing on and meditating "there is nothing." The peak of existence is: seeing the thought of "there is nothing" as coarse, thus reversing it, and because the thought of "nothing" has already been reversed, therefore the subtle thought of neither perception nor non-perception is not abandoned, but exists. Second, regarding the limbs, the actual samapatti of the first dhyana has five limbs: the limbs of antidote are investigation and analysis, two; the limbs of benefit are joy and happiness, two; the limb of abiding is samadhi, therefore it has five limbs. In the second dhyana, the limb of antidote is the inner is extremely clear; the limbs of benefit are joy and happiness, two;
